I'm starting to raise my respect for BBC America chappy Matt Frei.

His latest musings on the relationship between USA & UK is well worth a read if that's your sort of thing.

I particularly liked:
Matt Frei wrote:

In the days after 9/11, I found myself in Jerusalem talking to a prominent British diplomat.

"The world, Matt, is a jumbo jet", he whispered.

"The Americans are in the cockpit and First Class. Everyone else is in Economy and we are in Business with the possibility of an upgrade."

Fly the friendly skies....

I like this quote:
Quote:
The fatal attraction of Tony Blair for George Bush was partly based on a still-bewildering personal chemistry
Tony does kinda have a Glen Close aura about him.

I think certain politicans should get over their schoolboy fantasies of world domination (or, at least, stop trying to live them through America and start annexing small European countries) and ask the question: what has been the benefits of the so called relationship vs. the costs of constantly trying to appease our American overlords?

I rarely pay attention to the writers of news articles unless I know them already. This is the first thing I've read of his (knowingly), so I haven't got much of an opinion of him.

This is the best piece of writing I've seen from a BBC Correspondent.

Context:
Fergal Keane has been a BBC correspondent for years and has covered some appalling wars and disasters. Before we Brits handed Hong Kong back to China, he wrote the now famous Letter To Daniel
