...put my wife to sleep within ten minutes. True story.

Also, Obama's speech required more standing and sitting than a month's worth of Masses. And Pelosi looked like the cat who ate the canary. I think she also blinks less when she's not near Bush/Cheney.

Oh, and Pelosi looked like she was dressed in god damned upholstry. WTF was that green polyester slipcover she was wearing? She should have just showed up in a fucking Snuggie Smiley: laugh

I completely forgot to watch. I don't really feel like I missed much though, for some reason.

There was a man sitting behind Michelle Obama whose head was five feet wide. So you missed that.

Biden had a real...Devious smile during Obama's speech. Maybe that's just the way he is, but it was entertaining anyways.

The voice - it's Rogers re-incarnated. I just want him to say, just one time.

Pelosi only need her pinky turned backwards at the corner of her mouth to complete her Dr.Evil-scheming-to-take-over-the-world role. I guess I never realized before that the speaker of the house seemed to be the one to decide when everyone would stand up and clap.

I liked the little black girl who was recognized for claiming 'we are not quitters'. She was beautiful and she looked out over our congress with sincere wonder and hope and pride. Nice touch that.

Yeah. I'm not unsympathetic to the point he was trying to make; but he muffed it, badly.

I had the same basic thought. Although some of that was just someone trying to hide their Louisiana speech patterns (where I grew up), it did seem exaggerated.

John Stewart on Jindal's Stance on Stimulus $

The gist?

He agreed to take a little over $3.7 billion of the $3.8 Louisiana was offered.

BUT HE'S STILL AGAINST THE STIMULUS!!!

Hrm? I know your instinctive reaction is to circle the wagons but I was speaking of both conservative & liberal responses.

Really, the most glowing thing I've heard anyone saying about the speech was "Well, it reads well on paper..."

Yeah. Must just be the liberal media though. That's always it Smiley: oyvey

Edit: I take that back. When I turned on Rush today, he was finishing some rant about how if you didn't think Jindal's speech was the bee's knees then he didn't want you calling his show. So I guess someone liked it...

Um... That *is* the apparent spin. What I'm seeing is every single liberal news outlet with the same message: "Even conservatives didn't like it!!!". Inevitably, they all stem from one "conservative" columnist (who works for the NY Times and was interviewing on PBS, so lets put a grain of salt on that), and a tiny number of out of context remarks on one Fox News panel discussion.

When you're looking for conservative responses, and all you can find are liberals talking about the same couple of comments over and over (massive pages of this for one day later in fact), it should be your first hint that this is the media plan for this. Bury the objection with the spin.

Funny how I caught a couple segments on Fox last night talking about the Obama speech and the Jindal response, and didn't notice anyone saying Jindal dropped the ball. The panel in question is always hard hitting and the comments made were not "bad" in the context of the full discussion. Yet, apparently the entire world has the "conservatives hated Jindal's speech" story running...

Can you say "media spin"? I think so...

Funny that. Not that Rush speaks for all conservatives or anything, but did you bother to actually maybe see what conservatives were saying when they weren't being misquoted by liberals before forming an opinion? Just a thought...

Yeah, see, that's just false. The guy's not ready for prime time, it's that simple. I realize you people don't have a lot to work with, but an uncharismatic brown guy from the South who can't communicate effectively? This is REALLY the best you could do? At least Charlie Christ sashaying out of his bungalow to respond would have been entertaining.

Rah! Rah! We'll blindly offer accolades to anyone wearing the uniform? Just a guess. If they were really moved or felt well represented, they apparently have no interest in ever being in power again. I like Barney Frank as a person, I think he's a funny guy. If he'd been selected to respond to a Bush State of the Union I'd have wanted to punch Howard Dean in the face.

It absolutely was his débutante speech. It was, in fact, far more autobiographical than a mere ideological rebuttal ever would have been.

This is not the first time Jindal has given a speech Smash. In the grand scheme of things, this wasn't even close to his most important speech either. It's vastly more important for Democrats than Republicans in fact, which I'm going to assume is why there's a *huge* amount of commentary from the left, yet you pretty much can't find more than a casual comment on the right.

Yeah, no. Why would any Democrat care how Jindal does? No one is ludicrously naive enough to think that a 40 year old brown guy is going to make it through the GOP primaries. Is that really what you think??? That Democrats are worried that you people are going to nominate JINDAL and we need to start framing him as a poor communicator three years out??? REALLY??? I was being entirely genuine. Thirty other people could have delivered the same words as Jindal and it would have been more entertaining to me. That's all. I, personally, find Mr. Jindal to be uninteresting to watch. There are many Republicans I do find interesting to watch. Bobby just aint one.

So on and so forth. Really, I don't feel like finding a dozen sources just to have you say "THOSE DON'T COUNT!!!"

Face it, he sucked and everyone noticed he sucked. A number of people are qualifying it by saying "Yeah, he really sucked last night but he gives great interviews" or "He sucked but it's a long way to 2012" but there's no reason to pretend that his speech didn't bite ***.

Um... Joph cared enough to start this thread. You care enough to keep insisting that it was a horrible speech. All the liberal blogs repeating the same tired statements over and over. It sure looks to me like you guys care an awful lot...

What's so funny is that you all feel like quoting other conservatives out of context somehow strengthens the "Jindal Suck!" position. It's almost as funny as the obvious media manipulation when you see thousands of different sites all saying exactly the same things. Gee. Coincidence? I think not... It's nice to see that liberals are such original thinkers.
