watching the Knicks anymore? It's depressing, it's annoying, it's exposing my son to too much vulgar language. I at least need someone else to watch the games with - a one year old doesn't understand my charming wit and intellect such as "Stop fouling Kobe you aSSholes" (as he goes 20-for-20 on the FT line), "Stupid white boys shouldn't be playing basketball" (even though I like Galinari and Lee) and "Play some fuCking defense will you!" (on any given play).

Now, I understand D'antoni's 7-second offense is designed to provide more possessions and therefore more chances of throwing up high-percentage shots, which does have the effect of driving the score up (the K's have an inordinately high amount of 3-digit scoring games) but it also provides the opposing team the same opportunities, but with little defense they give up even more 3-digit scores. Maybe D'antoni was mandated from the front office to drive up scores and provide some exciting games, regardless of winning. Maybe that's what this is all about - more drama on the court than off. It's better than the embarrassing wreck the team was with Thomas as coach and Starbury on the floor.

But goddam if watching them doesn't make me want to punch Thom repeatedly in the face while screaming bloody murder.

Oddly, I find having kids really mellows my sports viewing intensity. I'd like my team to win the championship when my kids are old enough to remember it. I plan to be around for another 35 years or so and since there are only 32 teams in the league...the odds are not too bad. (If all things were equal, which they aren't, there is about a 67.1% chance any given team will win once).

Well supposedly in two years we'll get LeBron James and Paul Pierce/Dwyane Wade/etc. so that's what we're looking forward to.

Baseball I'm much better with. I can even watch Yankee games without getting into a fit. Football, not so much, but with Favre retiring (again)(hopefully) I won't be yelling at the Funballs anymore.
