Hey, look. Hamas openly admits that they seized the blankets & food as a government action.
al-Jazeera wrote:
A United Nations aid agency has accused Hamas of seizing hundreds of food parcels and thousands of blankets destined for civilians in the Gaza Strip.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) said the aid supplies had been confiscated from a distribution store by policemen.

"The police subsequently broke into the warehouse and seized the aid by force. The aid was due to be distributed to five hundred families in the area."

"This took place after Unrwa staff had earlier refused to hand over the aid supplies to the Hamas-run ministry of social affairs," the statement said.

Ahmed al-Kurd, the Hamas government's social affairs minister, confirmed that the aid had been seized.

He said it should be distributed to a wider section of the Gaza population and not only those who hold refugee status and benefit from Unrwa assistance.
Those looters in the chaos of war are TRICKY!!!

The blankets and food that were locked in a warehouse while people went hungry? So it would seem. Those corrupt bastards.

I suppose rocket wielding insurgents are people too. Do they count as more people than the ones without guns who were waiting in line for the food?

Good thing that Hamas was able to return all the aid a week later since they were in such a rush to cram it down the gullets of starving Palestinians! Man, they've gone from independent war-crazed looters to downright government sponsored Robin Hoods, bravely taking aid from the greedy UN and distributing it among the poor Palestinians. Well, I'm sure they were going to get around to it eventually.

As opposed to what, exactly? They were planning to sell the items on the lucrative rice and blanket black market where people barter the charred chunks of their former homes in exchange for food? The only way they can possibly fund their ruthless missile attacks if through dastardly sweat shops full of slave labor churning out high end risotto?

Honestly, enlighten me, here. What's your theory? Hammas stole rice and blankets from the UN, but not with the intent to give them to people, with presumably some other nefarious aim. What was it, would you speculate? Clearly it's a laughable premise that they were frustrated with the pace or administration of aid operations.

Supplies for Hamas operatives/soldiers/whatever and selective rewards to sections of the civilian population based not on need but by loyalty/recruitment spring immediately to mind.

In any event, we've gone from denying that Hamas had anything to do with the thefts to trying to justify the fact that Hamas was very obviously behind the thefts.

Sure. I was guessing, as were you. You were right. When I was a kid, my Grandfather's house was broken into and he told me "It was those fucking niggers." I told him that he had no way of knowing who it was. They caught the guy, though, and sure enough he was black. My grandfather was right, too.
