Shouldn't Obama be eventually having a sit-down with Ali Khamenei? Anything else would be a slap in the face. Ahmadinejad for all his posturing, is a lap dog. Is this a feasible or reasonable expectation?

You clearly don't understand the cultural divide in play. The Ayatollah doesn't negotiate. There is no one of equivalent stature in the US for him to sit down with.

You're right, I don't. I am somewhat naive when it comes to power-plays and diplomatic rules of engagement. It just seems like a bit of a farce negotiating with a puppet.

That sounds like a good time, really. Anyway, diplomacy is far too important to be left in the hands of politicians. We have professionals who've been doing this for decades, they're the ones who will get anything accomplished.

I suspect that either Iran or ourselves will attack each other within the next year or so. That's going to suck....

I do understand the culture and saying there isn't one in the country at his level is abit arrogant. He is a zelot....we have plenty of those here, and while I agree with the lapdog and puppet comments about the Iranian pres. The unfortunate thing is our diplomats will have to deal with that lunatic. They will not accept anything other than them being left alone to run amok in Persia which isn't acceptible for anyone involved, but it is not our job to hold his leash. I am not one to be as arrogant to say the the U.S. should be dictating policy to other countries...but if they a TRUE and REAL threat, I am not above the thought grinding them into a extremist gelatin.
