He said so himself.

This is, more than likely, just a clever ploy to make himself look more likable and transparent than the previous administration, but I'll be damned if I didn't chuckle when I heard it. Smiley: thumbsupSmiley: thumbsup, Obama.

Haha yea I laughed too. Now all he needs to do is admit that he did intend "No lobbyists working in the White House" to be an empty campaign promise.

Don't get me wrong: I was laughing with him. Saying it in these terms was a wise move on his part. He appears much more personable.

Yea I stand corrected. I was talking to a co-worker about this after I posted. I listen to a very republican aligned morning show so I should have figured thre would have been a huge slant on the news. Hey at least the guy can admit he can screwed up.

Good for him for just saying it. He knew about the tax issue (it came up during the vetting in November) and made the call that Daschle's knowledge of the health care system and establishment with the Senate were unique and important enough that they overrode the tax thing. He says that that was a mistake because it gave a bad impression of a "two sets of laws" system and takes the blame for it.

Better than the usual tack of blaming the evil media/Republicans/whoever for ruining his party. He made a bad call and he owned it.

Your new leader is awesome.

"I screwed up and picked the wrong guy, seemed like a good choice but some things came out of the woodwork afterward. So now we're putting someone else in the position and we'll try to avoid that issue in the future."

Beats:

"Look a turban, KILL IT WITH FIRE!!!!"

Hands down.

On the bright side, this should be conclusive proof that Obama is not, in fact, the Messiah. Suck on that dittoheads!

Obama the typical liberal knew exactly what he was doing when he nominated Daschle. What's sad is people are actually praising him for admitting he f*cked up on what is perhaps the easiest part of his job.

Was Obama not wise enough to see that appointing numerous tax cheats might have an adverse affect on his "change" mantra?

Republicans better get ready because we're going to see a lot more of these apologies, after the fact of course, throughout his administration.

Sad irony is these same people would be calling a republican everything under the sun were they to appoint a plethora of tax cheats.

False. GOP appointees get a walk on cheating on their taxes because a core value of the party is paying less taxes. They get into trouble for hot man on man action. Democrats, on the other hand, can openly suck off rough tricks in leather bars, but get in trouble for the tax things.

You do realize that no one ever said they thought so, right? That was a Rushism to explain why people were happy to have a viable Democratic candidate.

Samira,

Well expect for the fact that the media compared Obama to Jesus on numerous occasions. I guess you missed that whole bit about Jesus being the first community organizer.

Please put down the kool-aid.

I think we have an old friend back. Most of the comparisons came from editorial type articles iirc.

Or how about Donna Brazile

Is it 2001 already? Because that was the last time anyone involved in Democratic Party politics took anything Donna Brazile had to say even remotely seriously.

It's difficult for me to remember every single word of the thousands of interviews, stories, and rallies at the top of my mind. Being an agnostic (read: Godless heathen), I put little stock into such comparisons. LOL @ my lies?

Back in September, Rep. Steve Cohen (D-TN) said that Jesus was a community organizer (and that Pontius Pilate was a governor... heh) and there's a few stories reporting on this event. Which is leagues different from the media comparing Obama to Jesus.

But, you know, folks are still butthurt that the polls were dead on and there was no Wilder Effect to save them and several red states suddenly turned purple so they need a boogeyman to blame it on. Nothing's ever their fault, you understand.
