Warren performed as expected.

Obama inspired.

Old black preacher from civil rights era made 2 million people laugh.

Poet sucked.

I will dwell on the poem. I'm not a poet, I don't pretend to be (beyond tossing off the occasional limerick). But for god sake, if you are invited to read your poem when the entire ******* world will be watching... learn to do so with some style.

Every.

Should.

Not.

Be.

If.

It.

Each line of the poem was like a snapshot. I'm not sure what you expected, maybe something that rhymed, or in formal form like a sonnet, but as Free Verse it was quite good. Not every poet though can read their poetry out loud as well as Myra Angelou.

Modern poetry seems not to be in everyone's taste, then I expect there are some folks here that also didn't like the new piece John Williams wrote for Inauguration also. Watching the joy on Yo-Yo Ma's and Itzhak Perlman,'s faces as they played "Air and Simple Gifts" was beautiful.

I was expecting something more along the lines of someone who can actually recite a poem with something similar to the cadence in which it was written. Her inability to do so was especially disappointing because she wrote the bloody thing.

Her poem reads a lot better than it sounds. And THAT is entirely due to her utter lack of any skills at oratory. A third grader could have done better.

"Well, again, we're wondering here whether or not Barack Obama in fact is the president of the United States," Chris Wallace told Fox News viewers, well over an hour after Obama had taken the oath of office today.

Fox News replayed the swearing-in moment when President Obama and Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr. each bobbled the words to the constitutional oath. "They had a kind of garbled oath," Wallace said.

"It's just conceivable that this will end up going to the courts," Wallace speculated.

A bit of wishful thinking on behalf of (presumably conservative) Fox viewers?

Perhaps. But Wallace quickly added: "As Brit Hume rightly pointed out, if it goes to the Supreme Court, certainly Chief Justice Roberts will say that he took the oath."
Aaahhh... Fox News. You never let us down Smiley: laugh

Edit: To the credit of some of the Freepers, even they were admitting that Roberts fumbled the oath and was largely to blame for the issues.

Roberts and Obama got together again and redid the Oaths. He's resworn and all legal-like now.

Since Justice Stevens managed to swear in Biden without a hitch, the obvious answer is to make Biden our president and he can take Obama as his VP. Then Biden resigns, making Obama the president who then selects Biden as his VP.

See? Easy.

Speaking of, I wonder if Stevens feels less pressure now to put off departing this vale of tears.

I am positive he does. Not that he's eager to die, necessarily.

Even one of the reporters on NBC made a Dr Strange Love comment. Omega, you need to get copy of the movie and sit her down to watch it.
