I suppose it depends on how you define "work". An outdoor cat is less trouble day-to-day, with no litter box and no, or at least far fewer, concerns about clawed furniture and territorial spraying and what not.

When things go wrong, though, they go really wrong for the outdoor kitty.

No one is smarter than me. I'd explain why, but you're not intelligent enough to understand.

False.

This has been a Smasharooâ„¢ tribute.

I like cats, when other people own them. I've just seen too much furniture destroyed by them to have one as a pet. They also bring home presents like half dead mice, yuck.

Saying all that, they are adorable Smiley: smile

Enjoy the start of your family Red

Jesus Christ, I can scarcely believe you chose that as your counter-argument. You want to go with that, really? Is that what the party line is these days? It's hilarious you'd say that, because...

You're just dead ******* wrong.

Even with all the half-witted hacks around here, no one else has ventured that opinion, because...

You're just dead ******* wrong.

It's so stupid I almost ruptured my spleen, because...

You're just dead ******* wrong.

Even a Republican president wouldn't deny that...

You're just dead ******* wrong.

100% of squirrels agree:

You're just dead ******* wrong.

Thanks for the laughs.

One of my outdoor cats once dragged a live rabbit into the house to impress us with and then let it go in the family room.

Thanks, cat!

I have the mellowest cat every and mostly, if you kind of get a cat young, you won't have too many problems. The best cats are the fiestiest ones. I remember our cat Martin, who would bounce off the walls, would hide in our Christmas tree, staring out at my mom defiantly. Martin was awesome. He lived to be 20 and we still talk about how great he was. I got him when I was one and he died when I was in college.

But really, if you kind of get a cat in the shelter or wherever and they seem calm, as long as you give her a decent amount of attention and train her early, she'll be fine.

Like how I coloured it in just in case you didn't catch the reference? I'm one smooth player, I have to admit.

Also, as far as male vs. female, cats really vary alot and my female cat is the sweetest, mellowest most affectionate cat I've had and as a kid, we had lots and lots of cats. Because we were insane. You should get two littermates. They can be friends. But anyway, gender doesn't necessarily determine much. Also, indoor cats are safer. You just have to do more work.

Nah, we're still in Smash tribute mode.

On the subject of live animals brought in, I think I've told the tale of the cat bringing a bird into the house and spitting it out. It promptly flew up to the molding and sat there screaming.

Good times, good times.

How do you lke THOSE apples? ....***************** just started reading The Botany of Desire. It's a book about the historical relationships between various plants and society.

It begins with a discussion about John Chapman, or Johnny Appleseed. Apparently all them apple trees that grew from the seeds he planted across the Midwest, provided apples that weren't really palatable to simply eat, but were mostly made into hard cider.

Has nothing to do with a cat, but my mother-in-law had a baby deer in her house for about six months. Had to bottle feed it and everything. It's still on their property, and won't let anyone but her near it.

If you do discipline the cat, I really think the best way is with a spray bottle. You can be quick about it and catch the cat IN the act, which is obviously most effective, because if you take the cat away from what it's doing, it'll take longer to associate the consequences with the actions. Also, don't give up after the first few tries. The cat will keep at it. It takes time to train cats, and they are far more stubborn than dogs.
