The first thing I do when I wake up in the morning is put on my glasses, so I can see beyond the tip of my nose. Today one of the lens pop out of the frame. so i grab my lovely mother of pearl swiss army knife and start to use the small ***** driver to tighten the tiny ***** that holds the lens in.

Not good idea, as a few seconds later I'm screaming for Jonwin to come help me, as my left index finger is bleeding all over the bed. the blade that has the ***** driver on it is also the can opener and it cut deep to nearly the bone. Thankfully further SIL was still home and came quickly to get me to the ER.

Now my left hand is near useless, as I can barely move the index finger without pain. Typing is worst then usual, as I find mt left hand is better at finding the right keys. Thank goodness for Google spell checker.

I also glad I finish knitting a pair of socks yesterday, as it will be several days before I will be able to start my next project. These are the first actual pair of socks that I actually completed, after several starts. I normally gave up when the thought of having to knit the second sock became too dreadful to consider. Specially when dealing with 2 or 3 small pointy needles, that like to stab me, while I'm working with 2 other needles.

Through the wonders of knitting blogs I learn of how to knit 2 socks at one time using 2 circular needles. No more dread of knitting pairs of socks or mittens one at a time. Next up on list of things to learn is knitting lace and fancy cables. I love how I can take yarn and pointy sticks to make warn thingies for family to wear. Thankfully they seem to like having me knit items for them also and now I have list of things they like done. That is after my finger is heal some.

Stitches will be remove in 10 days. Until then I will spend my time reading and doing what I can with just one hand.

due to pain I hadn't such thoughts in mind, but orgasms are a great way to take mind off the pain. Maybe I should invite Jonwin to join me under the covers, as we wait for dinner to cook.

I attempted to open a paintcan with a butcher's knife and cut my finger, it went through half the bone and the tendon. True story.

This confirms the theory I had in high school, hot girls hang out with/date dumb boys. :p

Still have to find out exactly why though.

I lost the little ***** in my spare pair of glasses. I had to drive to NY last week and had left my glasses at work, so my husband fixed mine..with a paper clip and packing tape.

Sorry about the accident. Heal well. Smiley: flowers

Learning to brush my teeth with my off hand was unexpectedly annoying and difficult but was thankfully mastered in a week.

Learning to ********** with one hand was going to be a massive problem, but the motivational reward got me over that mountain.

Learning more about the wonderousness of the endless novelties and problem-solvers the net offers via Elne's new knitting solutions...priceless!

The world is a much better and happier place than we often give it credit for.

That can opener is evil incarnate, gouged my hand and scraped a tendon.
Rate-ups for knitting! I'm wearing a navy blue cardigan my mom made shortly before she passed on but wish I knew someone able to repair the frayed cuff.

/rant on
friggen Velcro that's replaced buttons on a lot of newer winter coats is ripping the hell out of my nice hand made woolen stuff

Ne Lesson learn last night as I lay down in my bed.

DO NOT try to put all ones weight on left elbowSmiley: mad Makes bumping ones funny bone very not funny. My scream could be heard for miles.

Jonwin made me a sling for left arm and I'm wishing for a spell that would shield my finger from any bumps and movement. I need to see if I still have a finger splint, as any movement bring loud cries of pain.

Yeah, finger splint would be the best. I still have one from ages ago. I know that if I ever throw it out, well, I may as well just go ahead and break a finger.

I was working with chalk pastels and sliced open my finger with an X-acto knife once. Since the pastel was black, and it was on the blade, I now have a permanent scar-shaped tattoo on that finger. It's been a decade and its still clearly visible, even though the long slice has long since healed.

Pastel is also a carcinogen, so yay, I have a permanent source of cancer in my middle finger.

Eat lots of fresh fruit and veggies, for the antioxidants, and pursue things that de-stress you and make you laugh or be happy or relaxed. You'll be fine. Living on this planet we're swimming in a constant soup of carcinogens and anti-carcinogens every day. The trick is to balance the two.

Secondly, I'm jealous. I think an acccidental scar tattoo would be a frightfully interesting feature on a body. And it has ALL the cred that fake gang-war plastic surgery "scars" and "bullet wounds" lacks.
