Eye makeup remover...what works? I bought some new mascara that I kinda like, but it's miserable to get off and I'm just about taking off the skin under my eyes with a washcloth after I take a shower, haha. I kinda stink at being a girl. Help!

Clearly I suck at being a girl more.

I'd fire some soap and water on those peepers and consider it done. =)

Baby oil on cotton wool works wonder also. Dab a little on a cotton wool ball, rub over the eye, wait a few seconds, and then use a clean damp cotton wool ball to wipe off the oil and makeup .

That's what I usually use, and I'm about ready to draw blood trying to get this stuff off...I think I need something less damaging.

I think Cover Girl made a really good eye makeup remover. Don't remember, its been years since I bothered with mascara.

Yeah, I wear foundation and mascara and that's it. My makeup regime takes about 30 seconds. I don't like this new addition of 2 minutes of scrubbing under my eyes with industrial strength cleaner, hence the thread.

There are eye makeup removers, and if your mascara is waterproof you'd probably be better off using something made to take it off.

If it isn't, I'd just use whatever face cream you use. Wash with soap and water as you normally do, then dab the face cream under your eyes and gently wipe it off. The mascara should come with it.

The stuff I use is for dry skin, so it's probably oilier than some others.

If that doesn't work, a friend of mine uses plain old witch hazel on a cotton swab.

I planted a witch hazel sapling last year. I shall make magic potions, perhaps of the eye-makeup removal type.

You don't really need to wear mascara do you Nexa?

Vaseline, seriously. Takes off even waterproof, it's cheap and makes good lip gloss too.

Need? No, no one NEEDS to wear mascara. I have very light eyelashes, so I started wearing it as a teenager. Now, everyone is just used to it and if I don't wear it, they ask if I'm sick or tired, haha.

Mascara makes people look younger. They now even have eyelash extensions put in--other than fake eyelashes. Use something really gentle b/c of the skin around your eyes is thin and sensitive, like an emo boy. I like this.[/quote] Since they don't have Sephora near you, make Smash go buy you some at the Burlington Mall or something.

Thanks, I'll give it a try. He owes me something for implying I'm a tramp anyway. Maybe he can pick up something to help me remove my slutty mascara.

Sephora has a great line of eye makeup removers, as someone else said. Have you tried Neutrogena? That's a cheaper one, but you may have to scrub a bit more.

The Body Shop has a chamomile based eye makeup remover also that worked fairly well for me.

Instead of a full mascara, have you tried Neutrogena's Clean Lash Tint? It's lighter than a mascara and just darkens the lashes. I use that more than any other mascara for everyday use.

I haven't, but I'll give that one a shot next time. Since they stopped selling the mascara I liked oh...around 8ish years ago now...I've bought a different kind everytime I've run out on the search for the perfect mascara.

Waterprrof mascara you can use specific eye make up remover or face soap and water. I also like Nutregena. Just remember to moisturize after! Smiley: grin

Mascara removal sucks. The best tips I can give are MAKE SURE it's not waterproof (unless you're a huge crybaby), and usually I gently rub my lashes back and forth with my slightly soapy fingertips (and rinsing) to loosen it up before removing it with a washcloth.

I'm not really a girly-girl girl, and I've never set foot in a Sephora. But I bet they do have a variety of very good eye make-up removal products. It would be an investment, but a good product actually designed to do the job is your #1 option.
