I was reading a news article about previous presidents wives and it commented on Michelle Obama.

I am just left wondering what a horrible position to be in, with the worlds eye on you that you can never again be seen dressing down. Those lazy sundays in your pyjamas are gone. Opening the door without making yourself immaculate is over.

So you would have all those designers throwing clothes at you. Yes, you can bring in the best hairdressers to your room and not worry about if you booked an appointment. You would possess perfect nails without much effort on your part but really could you stand the real pressure of having to be immaculate all the time? Sometimes I just wish to let go and look like a creature from the black lagoon.

She seems to be doing well in the press so far, disregarding that outfit when Obama won.

So I guess the question is really (one I presume that Michelle Obama was asked and said yes to)
Would you be glad to be the first lady of America with all it entails being under the microscope?
Yes, I would do it if I also snagged Obama Smiley: inlove:2 (9.5%)
Yes, I would do it for the position it would give me to enact change:0 (0.0%)
Yes, I would enjoy the role and set the scene for others to follow:1 (4.8%)
Yes, but my husband/partner/boyfriend would need to be president:1 (4.8%)
Yes, but why could I not just be the first female president?:4 (19.0%)
No, I would not like the publicity, criticism and scrutiny:3 (14.3%)
No, I would not like to sacrifice my own freedom which would happen by being married to the head of a nation:5 (23.8%)
Other, feel free to reply and flame my *** back to blighty:5 (23.8%)
Total:21

That outfit was, alas, a fresh-off-the-runway look made for a much skinnier model. The designer added the black panels on the side to account for Michelle being built on a more human scale, but the transition from size 0 to size 8 did not work well for the dress, as the result was a black widow's hourglass.

Now that Michelle is FL, I hope she goes with more of those adorable $120 off the rack dresses than the $5,000 off the runway things. Frankly, they fit better.

The better question is, will a divorced/single president ever attain office? Divorced I could see getting passed over as spoiled goods in our two party country. Single, dunno.

Buchanan never married. Tyler, Wilson & Cleveland all married while in office.

These days they'd probably be accused of being gay.

Ahh. I guess that's what I get for not researching things before posting. I remember the murmurs of a possible Feingold run this last cycle, and the fact that he's been divorced twice--and is currently unmarried--was a downer. It probably didn't help that he's a liberal's liberal. Oh, and that whole jew thing.

Seeing as how I'm a man I think that I would find being the first lady rather awkward.

I am late to the party, but I had to choose "Other." I really hate spending time and cash on my appearance everyday [Insert slams against Bunny HERE].

The "divorce/single" statement made me curious. Obviously, everyone is stating that voting in a president of color is showing the world that our nation is not afraid of change.

This opens up the 2012 election to the possibility of a gay/lesbian candidate? If the Lesbian candidate wins and we were married, would I still be the "First Lady?" I also wouldn't want to out shine my partner...
