I am proud, nay, consumed by joy, that in England, we have a "Poet Laureate" who brodcasts an anthology of poetry on National Radio every week.

Now that's good radio to hear as the day ebbs away.

Goodnight John-Boy

Nobby, you might like Calvin Trillin, although you probably know of him already? He does a bit of reading in the linked clip.

He also has a new book called "Deciding the Next Decider: The 2008 Presidential Race in Rhyme." Hopefully you haven't heard of it yet.

I did hear of that book; I think he was on NPR's All Things Considered the other day.

NPR has a program called The Writer's Almanac, hosted by Garrison Keillor. Our local public radio station broadcasts it on weekday mornings at 9:00am..it's only a 5min program. More often than not it's Keillor reciting some bit of poetry. It's nice. Smiley: smile

(this, however, in NO way suggests that 'merica is civilized)

The BBC broadcasts that and I catch it whenever I can.

Keillor is a wordsmith and evokes a charm and lyricism that proves he's clearly British Smiley: tongue

My point in another thread is that America has a tradition of the evocative narrator, and this guy proves the point.
