Hannah needs an arch-nemesis. Until you provide that she's going to focus on you.

I'm sure you've been posting for five years or whatever, but I will know be aware of your existence. I like the way you think, MacDuff.

My mom actually quit smoking when she was 33, before the point of my origin. She used Nicorette, and now she just chews regular gum because Nicorette costs too much.
Edit- That was a pretty nice english error.

I'm on the gum again...let's see if it sticks this time. Get it? Gum? Sticks?

Anyway, I'm going to be thirty in a couple of months and I don't want to be a thirty year old smoker. New Year's resolutions never work, so I'm getting it out of the way before the end of the month so I can proclaim my victory-in-progress when people ask me if I have a resolution.

**** the gum. Get Zyban. Works like a charm. Nicotine patches for the physical withdrawal will help too, but the Zyban just turned my desire to smoke off as effectively as flicking a switch.

I think you said something similar the last three times.

So, I guess not. You know what *would* help? Cookies.

Nexa

Ok, fine. Quit smokeing and I'll send you cookies.

While it may seem...odd, considering...I won't take any of the drug aids to quit smoking. Well, the non nicotine ones, haha. I'm very sensitive to drugs/hormones/etc, and I would rather quit cold-turkey than go on Welbutrin without knowing ahead of time what it would do to me. Right now, I don't really have the time to find out, haha, I've got far too much going on. I don't even take ibuprofen or claritin unless I *really* need it.

I have seen a lot of patients at work who have used it and the general consensus is that if you are mentally sound and willing to quit you will. My father smoked 4 packs a day for 40 years and quit smoking while taking Chantix.

BTW, the dreams alone are supposed to be totally worth the price of the pill. Everyone I have talked to said they were some of the most vivid dreams they ever remember.

Good thing I'll never need to take it, then. If my dreams were any more vivid they'd be real.

Welbutrin will make you ******** crazy. I tried taking it when I quit the first time and there wasn't a day that went by that I didn't say something that made my wife cry. I'm surprised my marriage survived that. The second and final time I just went cold turkey. Now even the smell of smoking makes me a bit nauseous, going to my father in law's house is always a challenge.

I never had an issue with welbutrin while I was on it, and I never noticed an upswing in my already insanely vivid dreams. It did not help me quit smoking though. My moms husband went o it to quit smoking, it worked, and he lost 40 lbs on it. ******* Smiley: glare I was soooo jealous

My mother quit cold turkey by getting a Hysterectomy. She was in the hospital for a week or so and couldn't smoke, and when she got out, she stopped smoking.

My Bulgarian friend quit after one night at a club we had a few too many and he ended up smoking almost two packs. He couldn't speak in the morning because his throught was so raw. He decided then not to smoke anymore and hasn't since (a little over 1 year).

I did the patch again and has been nearly 3 months.

Just as long as I keep pretending I never smoked. The only time I really think of it now is just randomly; rather than before, during, and after every thing I do.

Although while driving I find myself winding the window down after I pop gum in my mouth and other such things.. constantly making sure I have a lighter ..etc..

funny

I found that keeping an unopened pack around helped me. It was reassuring to know that if I really, really wanted one it was there.

If I didn't have any I would obsess over the fact that if an undeniable craving hit I couldn't do anything about it until I would finally run to the curb mart and chain smoke three on the way home.

Yeah...that doesn't work for me. If I have them, I smoke them.

He's in a good mood and very positive lately. I suspect he hasn't quit yet. He wouldn't mention it to me since I'd threaten him with death and wish him many ills. I'll see him tonight and for the weekend. He won't be smoking around me so if we're still alive and together come Sunday, I'll report in. ;)
