Abe Lincoln was assassinated. There's always more sympathy for martyrs, regardless of whether they were martyred for anything important.

Surely you're not implying that Abe Lincoln did nothing of importance...

No, that's just Florida, which we've never considered a southern state, anyway.

And both the Carolinas!

Not that it matters much, I'm sure if the South were to "rise" again, it would get just as severely stomped back into its proper place as the abode of America's inbred.

A lot of people didn't like Buchanan and... well, he's still widely regarded as the worst president our nation has had.

Nice dodge by Bush.

I read on the Drudge Report this morning that getting hit with the sole of a shoe is a huge insult in Arab areas. I guess whats comical to us was a huge political statement over there.

Unfortunately 85% of the retirees are war veterans, so there is probably more combat experience down there then the rest of the states combined.

That's the most mature I have ever seen Bush, also the first time where I had to seriously consider if he was old spiderman. Dude has some spidey senses.

UP until he said "that's what happens in a free soceiety".

I think my favorite part of the BBC article was where they called him "Mr Bush" instead of "President Bush."

Typically in these articles, most newspapers will refer to officials by their title the first time they refer to them, and with Mr., Mrs, or Miss thereafter. It wasn't an oversight or any form of disrespect, intentional or otherwise.

Oh, I didn't think it was a mistake. They called him "The President" later in the article. But "Mr. Bush" has a much better ring to it than "President Bush," in my political opinion.

I feel kinda sad for the millions of Iraqis who were slaughtered and had their country sold to Shell and Halliburton.

I guess history will continue to ignore them.

I saw this video this morning as I was on my way to class and thought it was quite comical.

I feel sad for all of the innocent people who were wrongfully slaughtered.

Those would be the same people.

I guarantee you far more Iraqi people have been negatively impacted by the Iraq war than when Saddam was in power.

I dunno, Saddam killed a lot of people over a long period of time while the war has killed a lot of people over a short period of time.

Although, in the case of the Bathists, you're certainly correct.

I wonder if that reported listens to NOFX...

How are the Kurds doing these days? Or has Turkey taken over the job of slaughtering them?

#49REDACTED, Posted: Dec 18 2008 at 4:56 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) There is no price one can put on freedom. To defend a Totalitarian regime is an effort in futility. You may disagree on why we went there, but do not deny that Iraq is a much better place for the common person now, than when Saddam was in power. It is akin to ousting Pol Pot in Cambodia. Of course obtaining freedom will take time and patience and determination from all parties, but once you obtain it, you'll never let it go.
