I left the boys at home, and hit the shops for some Christmas shopping. After 2 hours I can say I am 90% done and the rest I just need to order online, which is a snap. I kept to my budget, I didnt forget anyone, and was even able to get a few things for family members who are impossible to buy for. So how is everyone else doing on their shopping?

Now I have to wrap my mind around cards. I hate doing cards Smiley: glare

Christmas gifts? Last thing on my mind. If we win the MegaMillions then maybe I can get some presents but other than that, not a chance.

Im getting better and better at ignoring the commercialism of christmas. We've pretty much stopped 'buying' gifts for extended family. They are doing likewise. I've canned up jams, will make caramels and toffee to send to them all, and find my dad some special token. Otherwise, it's only my kids I'll splurge on, and they getting gas cards and some needed clothes items.

I did shop the Black Friday on-line and got myself and my daughter new hand-bags:D

We didn't do Black Friday. Mr. Tare and I had stomach flu and we're just getting back on the mend now. We set up our tree today, though, to give the kids something to do.

It's starting to feel Christmasy around here. Smiley: smile

Oh there is no way in hell you can get me out to the stores on Black Friday. We know better, and lock our doors, keep our PJs on, and dont come out until it's late Sat afternoon at the earliest.

We did put up our tree on Friday though, and the place is definitely feeling holidayish. When does everyone else put up their tree? And do you do real or fake?

I abhor fake but since we moved to a townhouse I relented and we have one for now. I find it painful. I have to douse the damn thing with pine oil fragrance just to pretend its a tree. I made the Mr promise when we moved to a house I wanted my real tree back.

We're having a real tree for once. But we didn't do anything at all this weekend, which was nice for once, but I'm staring at my to-do list and starting to panic.

Won't do a tree until after our oldest's birthday on the 8th. It doesn't seem fair to start preparing for Christmas when we haven't celebrated his bday yet.

So not looking forward to shopping this year. Hubby and I agreed to forego presents for each other this year and instead buy something for the house.

I grew up in a big house with high ceilings so I've had real, tall trees for over twenty years. But the wife got a fake 6' for the apartment last year. She doesn't want to set it up because of the baby but I'm trying to clean and clear things up a bit and stick it in the corner.

With small kids and cats, it's best to stick to unbreakable ornaments like bows and wooden toys in at least the lower branches. I wait until after my birday to decorate a small fake tree, as I need to do some major cleaning first. I love real trees, but don't feel it's worth the cost for us.

The holiday season is just an excuse for me to show off my penguin collection around the living room. As to gifts, I try to make most of them with a few books or silly gifts for a few folks when an item just calls attention to buy them. Last year we got a set of Good and Evil Unicorns for middle child and a spinner to find out "What a Pirate would Do" for her boyfriend.

Guess I should look at what yarn I have and start knitting for grandkids. They seem to expect something I knit for them now.

We've actually got a great store nearby here called Camelot Treasures, and they're filled with fun stuff for stocking stuffers. You reminded me elne, I still have a few more things to pick up from there before I can say Im officially done. I was planning on grabbing a few of the historical kid games and pirate loot.

It's embarrassing how long and hard I laughed in the Hallmark store at these cards.

I'm going away for some of December. I'll buy people trinkets on vacation. I also bought my nieces these gift cards so they can adopt an animal from the WWF. I like the idea that they learn about giving to charity and they get a stuffed animal.

Christmas shopping you say? I won't even bother thinking about it until December 23rd at the earliest. I've had Christmas shoved in my face everywhere I go for weeks now and it's still weeks away yet. I'm actually getting pretty sick of the whole thing.

Thanks DSD, I need to show the site to Jonwin as I see a few items that my local store Forget Me Not Factory doesn't have. I just spent lots and lots of minutes checking out their online catalog and suddenly have a need to come down to see youngest and make a stop along the way next year.

Check out Our Ellicott City Bubbleman videos. Got to love a guy willing to stand out on sidewalk and blow bubbles while wearing wizard garb. They also sell our favorite Fairy Artist, Jessica Galbreth at the store. See was there to sign her work on my Birthday last year.
