The story of the member list is here
This leak passed me by initially. Who cares what a pool of crack pots think? I looked on with a mix of mild amusement and irritation. Amused that the BNP members were exposed but irritated that again privacy has been compromised with electronic data (its been a theme here for a while). What has changed is that I found out as a result of this lists publication that I knew a BNP member for a long time. My shock and horror at that fact have been with me for a while. How could I know someone who was a racist? Who truly believed in what the BNP stand for? I guess I feel betrayed but I also feel dirty for having had any association with them and that makes me angry.
The only amusing aspect being how they are fighting the lists publication using laws that they would like repealed
Quote:
A BNP spokesman, Simon Darby, said: "If we find out the name of the person who published this list it will turn out to be one of the most foolish things they have done in their life." Griffin insisted this did not represent a threat of violence but the reality that the person faced prison for breaching a high court injunction. The BNP leader admitted the party was relying on the Human Rights Act, based on the European Convention on Human Rights, which it opposes, to try to protect the privacy of its members.
I'm just all and upset
