I'll be making a pumpkin cheesecake tomorrow night. Since it only uses like half a cup of pumpkin, me and Baby Girl baked three loaves of pumpkin bread the other night. Turned out soooo good. When I gave her some for breakfast she said, "Mommy, I'm going to thank myself! Thank you self!" (since she helped make it)

Tomorrow night I'll also be prepping my bird for smoking in the morning. It takes 8 hours to cook, so I need to have it ready to pop into the oven at 5 am. The family is buying the dinner and I'm making this smoked turkey as an add-on since I've become addicted to it.

Two questions:

1) Where do you find rolling papers that size; and
2) Isn't it hard to keep it lit?

Cool, thanks. We'll have just arrived at noon, but we should be able to catch it on the way back down to Mass.

we're having service for my dad today and then all meet back at my dad's house for dinner. No turkey and not a word about any pies, but Sisters are doing prime rib and beef stroganoff. I have to make creamed onions and mushrooms and the lemon sauce for the Angel Food Cake, that my dad loved. I misplace my copy of his mom's recipe, so went and printed out a few lemon curd recipes and will have Son-in-law help with making the whipped cream that she folded into the curd.

I got a pair of Clarks pumps to wear today. They the first narrow width pair of shoes that I could find with enough room for my toes in 14 years. They got good reviews for comfort, so I spent the money I was hoping to have still for Mines of Moria.

Rest of weekend will be recovering from concert Thursday night and checking out what fun new things I can do in LoTR with out MoM.

Same as last 15 years. We go to my sister-in-laws, a couple hours Downeast. ALL in the car by noon so we can turn up the radio to BMX's annual airing of the full 21 minute version of Alice's Restaurant. We'll sing along badly but without my daughter joining in this year:(

ME THREE! I bet you guys don't eat Creton, Ployes and Pork Pie. I'll be up in Maine but I refuse to get up with my sister and my mother and go to the Maine Mall at 3 in the morning on Friday no matter what they say.

Every time you mention creton, it reminds me I havent had any in a while. And I crave them now.

Cretons are soooo good with a piece of toast with creton spread, dipped in a fried egg yolk... hmmmm.

Also, Pork pie with mashed potatos and gravy. Miam.

Mmmm....

We'd have cretons on toast with mustard. But that sounds good too.

What time do they air it? I can never remember...it's always hit or miss as to whether I hear it, haha.

High Noon. Sorry it's BLM, not BMX - 93.1 on the FM dial (not a station I regularly listen to).

Anyone have any ideas with a different pumpkin application?

You might want to try a Pumpkin Chiffon pie

1 env. Knox gelatin in 1/4 c. cold water
1 1/4 c. canned pumpkin
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. ginger
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. milk
3 eggs
1 c. sugar
Baked & cooled pie shell

Beat egg yolks; add 1/2 cup sugar, pumpkin, milk, salt, and spices. Cook until thick in double boiler. Soak gelatin in cold water and add to other. Cool. When it begins to thicken, add rest of sugar and stiffly beaten egg whites. Pour into a baked and cooled pie shell and chill. Garnish with whipped cream just before serving.

The office is having a "dessert and snack" munchie party. I brought in Brazilian cheese balls, but my plate is loaded down with enough sugar to kill a diabetic from all the desserts.

I suspect we'll be let out early, as the direct marketing business grinds to a halt when all other businesses are also closed. (Seriously, like, 2 people have answered the phone this morning, and they were as grumpy about being in the office today as I am.)

They're larger and somewhat darker than regular balls.

Well, I thought I would be spending the day preparing the portion of the Thanksgiving meal that we're taking to the in-laws, but instead I'm spending it lavishing as much loving and gentle attention as humanly possible on a sick toddler.

And DF, I'm totally there with you. I adore pumpkin pie, but I never eat it at any other time of the year, which makes it ultra-special yummy during the holidays.

Yes, it's the day we go out shopping and spending far beyond our means as a big **** you to the economic crisis and to the nations despairing in desperate poverty and starvation. It's called "Black Friday." Mama needs a Wii Fit.

No, no, no, don't you get it? Spending more will help *fix* the economic crisis! Gotta make sure all those cards are maxed to ensure that the government has a reason to pump more money to the lenders!

If I don't hop on tomorrow, happy Turkey day to you all!

Well, I just got off work so I'm going to play around on ye olde interwebs a bit and then go to sleep. I'll wake up, shower, and head to my mom's house for a nice turkey breakfast. I'll then take a nap for a bit and then head to work about 830 or so. Yeah, not the best Thanksgiving I've ever had this time around.

The traditional family Thanksgiving get-together in my family resembles a mixed martial arts battle royale. The last few years, my wife and I have avoided it like the horror show it is, and have just had a quiet little sit-down together. We'll be doing the same this year.
