Tare is apparently slacking this morning. I'm procrastinating putting on the warpaint to go off to work. What's planned for this weekend? Anything fun?

Well I just discovered this week that due to Monsanto's continued growth in these harsh economic times, we get 2 extra holiday days this year. That means next week is a two-day workweek for me. Smiley: grin

So I won't be doing anything more strenuous this weekend than getting a hair cut. WoW stuff. Maybe some treadmill time. Then Wednesday will be Saturday all over again.

Hopefully we'll get the motor home packed full of boxes this weekend. Get some of my kitchen packed. Play some WAR, ***** about how much the server population decline sucks, clean house, do some laundry. Try and get over this head cold. Blech.

Tomorrow, going holiday dress shopping in the morning to prepare for holiday photos in the afternoon. In between will be the baby's flu shot, after which I will take her out for lunch and buy her icecream in hopes of forgiveness.

Sunday will be yard work, I have a ridiculous amount of raking to do. Hmm, I should probably buy a rake.

More football for me this weekend. This is the last weekend, too. My son's team is playing in "The Battle in Rocky Top". A big deal for little football boys.

I have 1/2 bottle of wine to finish off tonight.

Tomorrow I'm getting a haircut.

Tomorrow night we're meeting my sister-in-law for dinner and transferring the turkey (we have some friends that raise them, so we buy - she cooks).

I think I need to think more about Thanksgiving.

Hope to get some quality game time in, as LoTRO's first expansion was released this week and I have lots of important stuff to do in Middle Earth.

Crazy Americans with your crazy late thanksgiving.

My plan for the weekend will be a combination of studying, and working on the house. I have some "interesting" wiring that needs to be dealt with.

I also want to make some sort of crazy chicken dish, but have not, as of yet, been inspired. I think I might stuff it.

Christ, they haven't killed her off yet? I had to quit watching that show, partially because of her.

For this weekend, most of it will be pretty laid back. Till Sunday, that is. I have tickets to the Broncos-Raiders game this weekend, where I will no doubt see my pitiful Raiders get schellacked by the sub-par team that is the Broncos. I have high hopes of an upset however, and an upset at this particular game would make my season.

Some stuff to look for when purchasing a home - you want a good balanced mix of webbers, weavers and hunters:
UO Extension Services wrote:
Spiders Commonly Associated with Structures

Web Builders

Many spiders use webbing to ensnare their prey. Their web designs vary and may or may not be elaborate. Web-builder spiders discussed here include cobweb spiders, orb weaver spiders, cellar spiders, and funnel web spiders.

Cobweb Spiders

The web building habits of cobweb spiders contribute to their pest status. These spiders typically construct an irregular web in sheltered sites indoors or outdoors. The outer sticky threads of the web entangle insect prey. These spiders often are inconspicuous, although their web is not. Some species construct a retreat within the web and hide therein during the day, and the spider hangs upside down in the center of the web at night.

Cobweb spiders, including widow spiders, belong to the family Theridiidae and have a rounded globular abdomen (black widow spider shape). One member of this family, the common house spider (Achaearanea tepidariorum) is about 1/3 inch long (female), gray to brown, and its spherical abdomen has several dark stripes near the tip. The common house spider requires high humidity and plentiful prey; it typically occurs in damp basements, cellars, crawl spaces, and outbuildings. This species frequently abandons webs that do not yield prey, and then constructs new ones until it finds a productive site. Webs become dust covered when abandoned.

Orb Weaver Spiders

Orb weaver spiders construct the familiar circular, flat, elaborate web in which flying insects are trapped. Each species of orb weaver typically constructs a web with a distinctive design. Webs usually occur outdoors. These spiders have poor vision and locate their prey by feeling the vibration and tension of the threads in their web. They use silk to wrap the victim.

Many species of orb weaver spiders are large (approximately 1 inch), but others are quite small (approximately 0.1 inch). Some have oddly shaped abdomens (pointed spurs, conical tubercles, etc.). Some are very brightly colored. One common spider, known as the yellow garden spider (Argiope aurantia), has silver hairs on the back of the cephalothorax and a large abdomen marked in black and bright yellow or orange. This spider is about 1 inch long and hangs head down in the center of the web, which is found in brambles, bushes, tall grasses, etc. in open sunny places.

Despite their formidable appearance, orb weaver spiders are not considered dangerous. Some species can bite if handled.

Cellar Spiders

Cellar spiders are frequently found in dark, damp places such as cellars, basements, crawlspaces, and outbuildings. They typically construct a loose, irregular-shaped web in a dark corner. Cellar spiders continually add to their web, which can result in extensive webbing. The male and female live together in a web and can be found hanging upside down in it. They shake the web violently when alarmed. Cellar spiders can quickly establish large populations in a structure.

Cellar spiders have very long, slender legs (up to 2 inches long). Their body is about 1/3 inch long and pale colored (whitish-yellow to gray). They are sometimes confused with daddy-long-legs (see HYG-2060B-04).

Funnel Web Spiders

Funnel web spiders construct large, flat, horizontal webs of nonsticky silk. The web contains a funnel at one end that serves as the spider’s retreat. The funnel is open at both ends so the spider can readily escape. The spider hides at the narrow end of the funnel; when it feels the vibration of an insect crossing the web, it dashes out, bites the insect, then carries it back to the funnel. In former times, the silk of funnel web spiders was used to cover wounds to stop bleeding.

Funnel web spiders generally are brown and somewhat large (>1/2 inch long). Some species have banded legs. Some species have long spinnerets that extend out beneath the rear of the abdomen.

In the family Agelenidae, some species of Agelenopsis (grass spiders) and nonnative Tegenaria (house spiders) will infest structures, but their webs typically are confined to the lower levels. The hobo spider, Tegenaria agrestis, was introduced from Europe and is found in parts of the Pacific Northwest. The hobo spider is known to bite humans, and its venom has similar effects to that of the brown recluse spider. Hobo spider bites are probably from the males, which wander in search of female mates. The bites of other funnel web spiders are not known to be very toxic to humans.

Active Hunters

Some spiders actively search for their prey. Any webs that they construct are used as resting areas. These spiders are commonly encountered when they venture from their retreat to search for prey. Spiders discussed herein that actively hunt include wolf spiders, jumping spiders, and nursery web spiders.

Wolf Spiders

These hunting spiders are fast runners that will chase their prey. Wolf spiders are hairy and often large, up to 1-3/8 inches long, sometimes confused with tarantulas. Their legs are long and spiny. Many are dark brown.

Wolf spiders may hunt day and night. They usually occur outdoors, but may wander indoors in search of prey. They tend to stay at or near floor level. They typically construct web retreats in sheltered sites.

Females carry their large, globular egg sac attached to spinnerets under the abdomen. Upon hatching, the spiderlings climb onto their mother’s back and stay there several days or more before dispersing.

Wolf spiders frequently alarm homeowners because of their large size and rapid movements. Wolf spiders are not aggressive, but may bite if handled.

Jumping Spiders

These spiders are so named because of their jumping ability. They can jump many times their own length. They make quick, sudden jumps to capture prey or avoid a threat. They also can walk backward.

These common spiders are about 1/8 – 3/4 inches long, very hairy, stocky built, and short-legged. Two of their eight eyes are very large. They have the keenest vision of all spiders. Many species have patches of brightly colored or iridescent scales. Some are black with spots of orange or red on the upper surface of the abdomen, at times confused with black widow spiders.

Jumping spiders are active during the day and prefer sunshine. They normally live outdoors, but jumping spiders can become established indoors and their hunting activities often center about windows and entry doors where their prey is most common.

Nursery Web Spiders

These spiders attract much attention due to their large size as they can have a leg span of 3 inches. Many are earth tone colored.

Nursery web spiders typically live near lakes and streams, but occasionally are found indoors in moist areas. Many can run over the surface of water and, if chased, dive and stay submerged for some time. They hunt day and night for aquatic insects and even small fish. They are sometimes commonly called fishing spiders.

The sole use of their silk webbing is for the egg sac. The female uses her mouthparts to carry the egg sac under her body until the spiderlings are ready to emerge. She then fastens the egg sac to some leaves and encloses it within a “nursery” web, where the spiderlings remain until they are ready to disperse. The female stands guard near the nursery web to protect her young.

Passive Hunters

Passive hunters are spiders that lay in wait for their prey rather than searching for it. When their prey approaches, they may jump or pounce to seize it. Crab spiders are the only passive hunters discussed here, although tarantulas and many other spiders employ this technique to obtain food.

Crab Spiders

These spiders have a flattened body and hold their legs at right angles to their sides, presenting a crablike appearance. They can walk forward, backward, or sideways.

Many crab spiders have horns or ornaments on the cephalothorax or abdomen, and some mimic bird droppings. Those that inhabit trees or hunt on the ground are usually colored with shades of gray, brown, or black, while those that frequent flowers are bright red, yellow, orange, white, and/or green.

Spider Relatives

The class Arachnida includes spiders and some other arthropods that are closely related to them. Close relatives of spiders are found in 10 orders and include scorpions, pseudoscorpions, mites, ticks, and daddy-long-legs (also called harvestmen). Daddy-long-legs are very commonly confused with spiders due to their general appearance and eight legs, but these tan to brown creatures belong to the order Opiliones and are not spiders (see HYG-2060B, “daddy-long-legs”).

Both my kids graced me with straight A's report cards this week and last night I watched my son get inducted into the National Honor Society and got to hang out with my ex, not only is he cute, he smells gooooood! ROFL

Leaving in around 40 mins to go to the salon to get my hair exciting again! I have no clue what color this time, Kailey says get black with purple stripes but I don't think so. But I am not painting my nails until I know what color my hair will be so it doesn't clash.

Tonight is dinner and a movie and ? Smiley: sly

Tomorrow my son is competing in a wrestling tournament in a town an hour away, and tomorrow night we may go the Amish Farm two hours away for an early Thanksgiving Dinner. Weeeeeeeeee I get to drive a lot!

Hopefully at some point I can get on and play WoW, I might even jump in and check out the new lotro exp.

Since I've been a bit sick yesterday and today, I'm just going to be lazy this weekend. I'm sure that there will be house and yard chores. Kids are on vacation next week for the Thanksgiving holiday so I will have a list of chores for them to do.

Oldest is starting Driver's Education tomorrow though. Yikes.

Pay close attention to the quality of the guest bedroom...I prefer a king size bed. Also, you know you need a good kitchen, what with all the cooking for me that you'll have to do when I visit!

Gonna see if I can shuffle Mr. Ambrya and the kid off to the Children's Museum for a few hours and get some leveling done in WoW. If we're feeling really inspired, we might induct the kid into the whirlwind of rampant consumerism that is the month before Christmas.

I', not sure of what is going on this weekend, due to when family is arriving in town for my fathers memorial service next Wednesday. So far my girls are planning to have a small Birthday party Sunday for my youngest after her plane lands. She turns 22 Saturday and they are inviting their father and asking if we could both play nice for at least an hour.Smiley: glare

I need to see about going to get new shoes for Wednesday and my good wool pants to the cleaners. I like to get new outfit also, but my hair is over due for a trimming.

Finding a pair of dressy shoes that are comfortable has been near impossible for me. I have a narrow heel, high arch and need a lot of room for my toes. At the moment I only gave a pair of Nike's and black renn faire boots that I do wear when I want to wear something dressier then jeans. All of my old dress shoes are now too tight in the toe or I tend to step out of them, so they ended up going to goodwill or lost in the clutter.

If I can't find new shoes, I guess I could hunt down my missing blue Mary Janes and wear them after a good polishing. I'll need to see if I can get something to add to the heel so they don't slip off as I walk.

Thursday the girls and I are to go down to Va for The Cruxshadows Immortal Tour after dinner. At least my boots are also dressy enough for when I want to be gothy.

I seem to be suffering from rotgut as the noxious fumes emanating from my nether regions are too volatile to be used in warfare. It may have something to do with eating a free 96-ounce lasagna in the last week.

In celebration of Mr. Catwho becoming Dr, as well as my birthday, I took the day off, and we went to Fogo de Chao for lunch ($30 as opposed to $45 a person). Nothing says awesome like a team of waiters catering to your every need wearing poofy pants! And all you can eat grilled cuts of meat = win.

Then we hit up Buford Highway Farmer's Market for import snacks (aside from having the cheapest produce in the entire state, they also stock foods from a dozen different countries). We found a mix for the cheese biscuits we loved at Fogo de Chao, and I'm pleased I remember enough Portuguese to read the instructions.

To break in my skates, we went to an afternoon ice session at the Ice Forum. My skates need more breaking in, as I had to take them off at least once >_> I have duck feet, so it takes me a while to break in shoes.

Finally we came home, and Lahurah (the same as the PC winner here) had spent all day messing around with The Manga Cookbook. So dinner was bunny shaped apple wedges, octodogs, potato cakes, and cucumber egg chicks. I grabbed a few pictures but I can't find Mr. Catwho's camera cord and he's already passed out. We had Irish coffee and eggnog and festive ale too, and watched anime.

Best Friday I've had in a long, long time.

I have been dealing with gas for 2 days now, Debalic. Thankfully today my system decided to dump what ever was the cause and I been in pain from stomach cramps for last few hours. Hopefully the air will clear soon and the EPA won't need to be called in.

Talked to my brother just how having realized there was a message in my voice mail. He just made bail and got of jail this morning for outstanding warrants. I am glad I was asleep when he first called, as I'm sure he was trying to get someone to help bail him out. Let some other sucker deal with his legal problems.

Otherwise I learn we will be having Thanksgiving diner Wednesday after the service for my father. I can see the roast beef in the oven, as we take our time cooking all the side dishes my father loved. He hated turkey and I never was a big fan of it, though I do eat it when served at in laws. Well Jonwin's family do treat me as a in law and so we will do the turkey thing there Thursday before the girls and I run off to the concert.
