The US Census 2010 is hiring now for both current work (address verification) and future work as census-collectors.
It's local, temporary, flexible, community work with decent pay.

While working for the Obama campaign, one woman mentioned she was a little worried going door to door. When asked why, she responded that when she had worked as a census-collector, she had had, not one, but TWO people pull guns on her when she went to their houses to collect information.
Then again, 70% of Floridians own guns, so finding two armed nuts is probably not that unlikely. But I could understand why she was nervous going door to door again!

o.o I'd immediately call the cops once I was a safe distance away.
It'd be kinda interesting to work as a census worker I think. I grew up in suburbia where you don't know anyone except your closest neighbors unless your kid has a friend further down the street.
