People around here say "yet" when they mean "still". I'm not the most grammatically correct, I saw at least 2 things listed in the posts here I'm guilty of doing usually out of habit but I'm working on it at least.

Did you mean "... saying it correctly"?

No, I meant to say right, even though I know it's not correct. It's a stupid thing with me: I had a teacher once that said "correct" a funny way when I was younger, and now I can't say it or read it without hearing her, and it bugs me.

One could also argue that a percentage is a collective mass

Only if one didn't understand mathematics, but held one's use of grammar in high enough regard to create non existent conundrums.

Your mother's a *****. You like to jack off dogs. That's right, you heard me. You like to grab that dog by the bone and rub it like a ski pole. Your dad? Gay. Your priest? Straight. **** off and let me post. It's not true, it's all in good fun. Now go away.

Not necessarily grammar related, but on the subject of words:

I particularly like his description of "sonicky" words, i.e. words (not onomatopoeias) that are "that are "kinesthetically evocative of, or appropriate to, their meaning."

I wish my wife was more intellectual; her speech is like junior-high texting chat with a liberal amount of Bushisms thrown in.

"I'm not adverse to _______."

Averse, people.Smiley: mad
This is contextual. You're "adverse to" if something you're against and "averse to" to something you simply don't like.

I picture Debalic's life like those cell phone commercials where the daughter is speaking to her mother exclusively in texting abbreviations.

When the mother takes her phone away for going over texting limits, I always wanted the girl to scream "DIAF!!" but she never does.

It's funny, isn't it, that the things you find charming and refreshing at first are the very things that grated on your nerves eventually.
