This

I spent this remebrance Sunday at the German Cemetary where they buried the brave young huns who fought us in 1914-18 and 1939-45

Sure. If they'd won, I'd be speaking Cherman in a jew-free Europe, but thanks to the courage of our soldiers, sailors and airmen (and particularly the USA's intervention) I can post whatever I like with impunity

Yes, by all means, don't respect the people who fight and die for democracy, freedom, and human rights.

Those aren't the reasons most soldiers die.

Define most., because aside from Gulf War II the previous three major armed conflicts that the UK was involved with (Falklands, Gulf War I and Bosnia) that was exactly the reason why soldiers, Sailors and Airman where dying

I wouldn't know anything about the UK, but Australia has not had to defend itself from invasion since perhaps WWII. The only battle fought on Australian soil to date was at Eureka Stockade. I consider every armed conflict we have been involved in since the Japanese were bombing Darwin to have been completely unnecessary.

I'm not the kind of guy who spits on vets, I just feel sorry for them instead of putting them on a pedestal and encouraging more people to go get their arms blown off.

Also, Falklands? That was over a tiny island covered in sheep, wasn't it?

It is possible that if nothing was done in those conflicts that Australia itself would be affected negatively.

They may not always be the best of people, and maybe someday this world won't need them, but until we do, I will always give them my respect.

Feel free to mock or disagree, its what makes this country.

Cheers
