While falolloping around our local Art Gallery (It's a good one - the largest collection of Jacob Epstein's works, along with a good smattering of Rembrandt, Monet, Van Gogh, Picasso etc.) I saw a piece that stopped me in my tracks.

The subject matter made me think of Jophiel:

Dead Angels (2007) by Peter Callesen

Beautifully executed, and a nice sick kind of humoUr.

Since then I've looked at his other stuff:
Peter Callesen's Web Site

Well worth a look - this guy's paper cutting is astonishing.

Su Blackwell.

Not as philosophical, maybe, but eerie, haunting and feminine.

Because your wimminz is likely to struggle and it's easier to manage the chloroform and duct tape with you out of the way.

I've thought this through. . . Smiley: cool

I have to be honest this is more my type of art, the whole impressionist thing leaves me cold.

That looks like the stuff my friend Alex does, Baron von Tarv. He's mostly inspired by Geiger, but he does the gothy gloomy creepy things with a more realism than stylistic twist. He's quite good but still has to work a day job as a graphic designer as a copy shop to pay the bills XD

I've seen some of Peter Callesen's work but never had a name to go with it. That really is fantastic work that he does. Thanks for posting that. Smiley: thumbsup

If I was unemployed, I would totally go into sculpture. I took a class in college once, and I worked feverishly on this one project the whole semester. When I was done, I got excellent reviews but I was ******* exhausted. I admire any artist that has that kind of drive.

Not something I'd hang on my wall, but pretty interesting.
