Move to Australia, we're 1 year into a three year term of a centre-Left Labour Party government under Keven Rudd. So far he's done us really proud, although the next few years are bound to messy anywhere, what with the GFC (Global Financial Crisis) and all.
Also, it's traditional for New Zealanders to move to Australia.
The one really big difference between Aus and NZ is that Aus is much closer to USA diplomatically and militarily. NZ doesn't allow American nuclear submarines to dock at NZ ports.
I'm not entirely sure what the comparative labour laws are like at the moment, Aus and NZ both had periods of deregulation during the 80s, 90s and 00s.
Australia has gone through a long period of housing bubble also, our house/rental prices are VERY high at the moment. That growth has stalled, and I don't know what's going to happen when that bubble bursts. Quite a lot of countries went through a housing bubble in the 00s, so I don't know if NZ did too.
You can count on Australia still being left of the USA though, even after 12 years of a right wing government here, and a left-wing government in power in the USA. But I have to say I don't know if Hawaii is independent in some way, and has things like universal public healthcare.
I'm just a little worried if you are going to move countries every time a right wing government gets elected where-ever you are. Isn't that disruptive on the friendship relations of the partner and sproglets?
