The Dow is down 300 points at this time. While this is no surprise to me, a lot of other posters on boards I frequent were expecting a post-Election Day bounce. I suspect this'll be par for the course for nearly everything for the foreseeable future.

I think my boss has ******* about this to every person he's spoken to today. He is blaming the white republicans who don't want a black guy in office.

Not a surprise. The DJIA actually does a few percentage points better under a Democratic administration historically, but for whatever reason the merry marketeers never seem to believe that at first.

Plus, of course, there's the whole recession thing.

While you have anointed a new chosen one with a brain, no administration is going to stop the economy going down the toilet for 2 years.

Obama doesn't take office for a couple months. Why would the markets magically rebound today?

For that matter, why would they magically rebound on Jan 20th?

I thought Obama brought rainbows and unicorns, cute little bunnies and soaring stock markets into the game field the moment he was elected.

Was I wrong in thinking that? Smiley: confused

Ummm, duh, because he's The One, the Black Neo, the person everyone who voted for him credited superhuman powers to in the healing of our broken and fractured world? A little thing like a mere stock market should be nothing more difficult than a snap of his fingers or a stern look in Wall Street's direction.

Presto, right? Miracles and everything? I thought that's what we all signed on for...

The election has about a .0000004% influence on the market now. It hadn't been in doubt for weeks. If there were a reaction to Obama becoming President, it would have occurred weeks ago, not now.

You can just call him "Mr. President".

As of noon today the markets are down 350 more points.

The good news? By the time President Neo takes office the market will have no place to go but up. Success is all but guaranteed!

A friend of mine claimed that Obama's proposed increase to taxes on incomes over $250,000 would lead to a 5% unemployment rate. Interestingly enough, our unemployment rate has already topped that. Smiley: oyvey

Maybe he meant 5% more than whatever it will be when President Neo takes office.

He specifically said "One out of every 20 people you know will be jobless."

Do a nose count and see if those people who you personally know are employed or unemployed. He may be right, but only if "know" is defined as being a close personal friend, not as a casual acquaintance. Just sayin'.

Hooray!

Four years from now I expect you to make a thread arguing that, if not for that war Obama started in Tanzania, he'd be considered a giant among presidents based on his economic acumen.

Down 450 p-p-p-p-points now. Two consecutive days of falling markets after Election Day? Nobby, hold me, I'm frightened. Tell me a nice bedtime story about an Aston-Martin please.

I'm so glad my boss is golfing today and not in the office... He'd be in a foul mood.
