Because if one man can bring as much hope and energy to a bunch of depressing and septic motherf'uckers like yourselves, maybe there is a chance.

Regardless of my opinions about his policy directions, if he symbolizes something that the U.S.A can and will stand together and support, he's got my vote.

I woke up smiling this morning as well. I won't have to listen to you all ***** about the evil pubbies for another 4 years, which makes coming back to this board enjoyable.

Well Shit, I would have voted McCain if it meant you'd stay away.

Septic maybe but, but never lacking in hope and energy when it comes to liberal politics.

More importantly was the energy he brought to the millions who previously had no care, nor hope of their ability to make a difference in either their personal lives or the betterment of their country (them poor, ignorant, unmotivated, lazy, good-for-nothing leeching types).

The sheer numbers of people he brought to the polls is a triumph in and of itself.

...and I've heard he's nice.

Just cos they're out of power, doesn't mean they're off the hook. Didn't you get the memo? All the **** that happens during an administration can, and should, be blamed on the previous one.

Maybe in 8 years, though.

Obama had 52% of total votes, McCain 47%. You can hardly say Obama inspired everyone to go vote while they normally wouldn't.

"5% isn't that much" is the new Pubbie meme.

Mind you, it's well over Bush's margins (both in popular and electoral votes) and makes Obama the first president to win over half the voters since Bush Sr. ran against Mondale.

I'll take it Smiley: smile

They tried writing it in smoke with one of them aeroplanes but didn't realize it was a cloudy day.

Typical Republican short-sightedness.

I have to admit I felt the same way. Watching Obama make his victory address, seeing the amazing response from people around the country and around the world, it was certainly inspiring. I'm not a big supporter of a lot of many of the promises he made over the course of his campaign, but I have to figure if he can do that much good just by being elected, how can I not be glad? So congratulations to all of you who supported him.

Best thing I've seen today:

Folks on the rabidly Right-wing Free Republic forums arguing that McCain should have never won the party's nomination. That, due to the Republicans idiotic rules of winner-take-all primaries and lack of a counter-weight, McCain won the nomination in states that had no chance of going red and well before the process had ended.

Their solution? They need a weighted proportional delegate system with some sort of superdelegate in case people get too stupid.

I believe it was Dukakis he ran against in '88. He was the VP when he ran against Mondale. Meh, I was 11 when Bush Sr. was elected and I was more interested in Voltron then whomever ran the government, so my memory might be a bit wrong.

I am glad he won for two reasons. First and foremost a fresh breath. We need it and we need it badly. Americans are so apathetic when it comes to government and politics. Secondly, our children and future politicians can run for any office based solely on their merits and not their ethnicity. That door has been kicked wide opened.

You're right. I had assumed Joph meant Reagan vs. Mondale in '84. :O

Haha... no, I meant Bush vs. Dukakis in '88. Bush got 53.4% of the popular vote (and basically swept the electoral map).

Brain cramp on my part. I was scrolling past returns on Wikipedia when I typed it and got my names mixed up.

Deal. I'll need to get in to a relationship with a skinny blond chick first, though. I think the First Lady and I will look fab in our inaugural gowns.

Perform a few conversions on Condi Rice and you'll have a strong black Jewish **** running-mate!

I'm happy he won and I hope his term(s) are good.

I am also happy that the damn election calls are done, but sad I still have to listen to Mark Udall. His calls were the most annoying and I voted against him for that reason. Yeah, It's not enlightened, but he was annoying.

I'd vote Mindel in a heartbeat.

Put it off until 2020 and I'd be up for VP.

Hey, someone has to make you look witty and articulate and distract from things for you. :-D
#26REDACTED, Posted: Nov 07 2008 at 7:07 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I guarentee you him "winning" the "presidency" is going to create the greatest rift in the history of this country. You need to read up on what is happening around the country, is really appalling. The media, the "black" community taunts and ridicule towards whites, and the left loons getting more and more emboldened since "Their One" just got elected by the ignaramous masses. We see the Hammer and Sickle outside the white house and in Seattle, Che Guevara Cuban Flags inside "The One's" campaign offices, Russia going back to the USSR days....
