F*ck yes.

It feels really good to be in a state that voted the same way as me, for once. This is my third presidential election, and I have never once, even on a local level, cast a ballot for a winning candidate nor referendum. Tonight is an affirmation that maybe I shouldn't move to BC, despite their superior marijuana crops.

Agreed. It's nice to actually have the feeling that my vote counted for a change, even if it was decidedly lopsided.

It was an indescribable feeling last night as I watched the state of Virginia turn from red to blue. Obama was a few thousand behind with only a few Northern counties left (one being the one I live in). As the night went on the he kept closing the gap and eventually took the lead. It seemed fitting that it turned blue at 11:00 est when all the western states lit up.

It was an amazing feeling to be a part of.

I also had too much champaign last night......

Sweet! I was trying to stay up to see how it turned out, but found that I was unable to. The News & Observer says that NC STILL hasn't turned red or blue, but it seems to be leaning blue. Meh.

Since it is so close, NC is now counting all the provisional ballots and adding those in. I think I can safely say though, that it will still tip to Obama. I refused to go to bed last night until all precincts were counted last night. Those of you in IRC last night, thanks for dealing with my stress as I constantly refreshed that website, and watched the numbers ping pong every 5 minutes. That was more stressful than the national election Smiley: lol

It was fun.

You even got me starting to worry if NC was gonna turn or not at the last moment. Smiley: smile

CNN still hasn't called it yet, but I'm guessing that the provisional balloting is why.

Right now it seems it's still not official, but even if NC would happen to turn red the fact it's so close is good news. I'm just happy Dole got sent packing.

Last night made me proud to be born and living in NC. I know all the votes haven't been counted yet but the fact that the race was so close meant that the state around me is changing. It was a lot closer then I thought it would be because in my sister's office she was outnumbered 1 to 6 in McCain's favor (her office is full of old women who were only voting for Palin). NC had pretty much the most news coverage I think the state has ever gotten, espically because we finally got rid of Dole.

P.S. I'm actually surprised the number of people from NC that post here, for the longest time I figured I was the only one with a computer in the whole state :p but I do live deep in the country part.

Yeah, I thought that there weren't many of us around, but I was apparently wrong.

I ate a hamburger with chili and cole slaw on it in a diner somewhere in NC once.

nah, you got to go the real BBQ route here. It's different depending on if you live in the eastern or western part of the state though. I never knew what bbq really was until we moved here.
There is a great song from Rhett and Link, which explains the different variations of BBQ in the south.

Looks like there are still 40k provisional ballots to count but its thought to widen the gap with a definite Obama victory here.

We frikking missed the Lexington BBQ fest because it was forecasting thunderstorms. It really sucked. Smiley: glare

I have yet to be able to taste the tantalizing Lexington fare, but its on my list of things to do very soon. In the Triangle, BBQ is eastern style, not western.

My story is similar :D. This is my first election and of course I voted for Obama. It also happens that this is the first time since 1968 that Indiana has gone blue. It made me feel like my vote actually mattered and that is pretty much the greatest feeling ever.

I live in the "we-don't-take-kindly-to-your-folk-'round-here", republican, bible-hugging, racist part of Indiana. (A.K.A. Southeast) It was great to walk in to school today and almost everyone was grumbling about the outcome of the election. My federal government teacher was pissed about it and it made me feel warm and fuzzy inside. :P

Seeing Indiana go blue was especially gratifying. I was pleasantly surprised to see it flip but not shocked. Obama's campaign had a seriously amazing ground effort out there whereas McCain blew off the state until the final week.

Protip: Handing out lots of yard signs doesn't count as a 'ground effort'.
