Japan and some parts of Africa. Hawaii's culture is very influenced by that of Japan, so I wonder if it wasn't a show of respect for his grandmother...

The only thing that really bugs me about Michelle Obama's appearance is her posture. She's taller than the average woman, and she slouches a bit much. Shoulders back, girl! She'd look so much more powerful if she stood up straight.

I was just surprised because like men's ties solid colors with a small pattern work best, appear less busy, and make a bolder statement. Her dress did the opposite of all that with the additional black widow factor. Frankly, at this stage of the campaign and in preparation for the White House I stand amazed she doesn't have a dresser. I can even recommend a friend's wife who is a celebrity dresser from Hollywood if she doesn't know of any.

Obama has it down pat. Simple, even to the point of austerity or severity, which in turn makes him look serious. Nothing he wears is showy or ostentatious. It gives him gravitas.
