It's appalling for any white person to vote against him based on race, or for him based on race. It's appalling for any black person to vote for him based on race, and against him based on race. ONLY WHEN we get to this point will we not still have a tangent of racial divide in this country. As it is now, it's just more obvious who voted for whom and why and why this country still has a tangent of racists.
2008 Presidential Election 95% of African American voters voted for Obama in 2008. 4% for McCain.
African American voters made up 13% of those voting.
2004 Presidential Election 88% of African American voters voted for Kerry in 2004. 11% for Bush.
African American voters made up 11% of those voting.
2000 Presidential Election 90% of African American voters voted for Gore in 2000. 10% for Bush.
African American voters made up 10% of those voting.
I see a trend here that goes beyond the race of the candidate. But go ahead and cling to what ever makes you feel better.
1996 Presidential Election 84% of African American voters voted for Clinton in 1996. 12% for Dole.

1992 Presidential Election 83% of African American voters voted for Clinton in 1992. 10% for Bush Sr.
African American voters made up 8% of those voting.
