I vote Dem because I believe that no one should have to go hungry, be homeless, be illeratate and uneducated, or die of treatable ilness in this greatest nation.

There will always be the poor, but that doesn't mean there has to be suffering too.

I'm prolly gonna get reamed for this but, too late. Contrary to your conception...the Dems created the KKK. In the time of the KKK the south were ALL democrats. They've flipped to Republican now yeah, however they we're a majority of Dems. They became repub when the dems recreated themselves to hate guns, basically. However, the Dems then we're the "masterminds" behind the KKK.

They we're created to keep blacks in segregation. The Dems we're prosegregation at this time. In fact Dems didn't become Pro-civil rights until JFK. They voted down EVERY civil rights bill until that time, however the Repubs got them through. Sorry, to burst your bubble but, the repubs we're for civil rights and change, while the Dems we're for keeping the blacks and women where they were and not changing ANYTHING. The dems created the literacy tests, poll taxes, and quizzes that stopped blacks from voting. the repubs eliminated them.
Smiley: schooled

However, they recreated themselves when they realized that wasn't working anymore into the party they are today.

Right. Therefore...The Democratic Party is not the same party now that it was back then. Being a Democrat today does not mean you side with the KKK because the party had different values 200 years ago.

Why do you include "tell me and then you can sub-default me"? Try not toking so much before posting and you may see results.

People resort to labels when they don't understand ideals.

I used to lean towards the Republican side. In fact, when I first registered as a voter, I registered as a Republican. Growing up in conservative Montana, with family who all leaned that way, I suppose it was almost inevitable to start with. For most Senate, House, and state level candidates I tended to vote Republican. Ironically, the only time I voted Republican for the Pres was when Dubya got elected the first time. At the time, I figured he was the lesser of two evils.

As time has passed I've started migrating towards the middle, and have been listed as an Independent for over a decade. Mainly because I've disagreed with some of the core Republican beliefs. I wouldn't go so far as to clasify myself as a conservative Democrat, but I wouldn't call me a liberal Republican either. One of the key things about Pubbies that I still believe in is a non-intrusive national government, letting the States largely govern themselves.

So no, I'm not a Dem, but I did vote that route this time.

I saw results, and I guess I was doing a pretty good job of whatever I was doing a three AM because ppl rated me up. Then I got called a troll because I was trying to find out more about why vote dem. See my ratings now, a few are decent, a few are default, and one is subbed.

I did this because my whole life I've been brainwashed by my dad to be a repub. I only see the right side of everything. I couldn't even watch anything in the house unless it's ran by the right. I couldn't use the internet cuz "THE INTARNET IS RAN BY LIBERALS." Or so my father said.

So, in the first election I could vote in, and out of my father's house, I did as much research by myself as possible. Then I made my own opinions, but research can only take it so far.

Thus, I wanted to see the human side of the left. I wanted to see why the left thought like they did. But, you know somebody ask a legit question and they aren't already in the CJ of everyone established in The Asylum, they get rated down for saying anything. This forum is basically Facism.

And I know why you rate down AmorTonight, he's a freaking moron. And sometimes I understand why you rate me down, but not this time.

Haha, this is funny because earlier I was a mere click from posting about how I'm a Democrat because my parents told me to be, but I figured you were too stupid to realize I was making fun of you. Of course, I assumed your intellect was stunted because I read some of your self-formed opinions, so I guess you're pretty much f*cked.

This started as something that seemed like it could avoid the flames of the closed-minded. Hey aren't liberals supposed to be the open-minded ones? But half of you are closed to my open-mindedness. But whatever, the "Your an IDIOT, cuz you vote on moral issues," mentality is laughable.

Secondly, I agree with Obama on his social ideas however not his moral ideas. With McCain I'm with his morals but half and half on the social.

And just because I'm a repub doesn't mean I can't understand a freakin tax plan so turtle and everyone else who went from a disscusion to a flame war,

I would rather be shot in the face then ever try to hold a conversation with you because it would be like talking to the biggest brick wall ever. and it just so happens this brick wall has a hey fuck off mentality. So, how about you fuck off?

We are talking about the same Jamestown that was eventually all but abandoned because of the mosquitos, encroaching tidewater, and near-annual fires, right?

This isn't a HS Civics class. No one is obligated to give you any response at all. Yet, many answered your question. But hey, ignore that 85% of thread, apparently it's not what you were looking for here.
