Yeah I coulda tagged it onto the other, but it was about my arrogance, so GFY.

Just had a rather scrumptious meal:
Screenshot

Honey roasted chicken in an Andaluz lemon, tomato and basil sauce with rice.

The meal (for two) cost £3.85 (About $7) and was fUcking delicious.

The meals I've cooked lately are making modesty more difficult by the day.

The chicken alone would cost about that much here.

I hear that's still de rigeur in working class households.

Knife to right of the plate and fork to the left, unless the napkins are aside the plates and the cutlery is on the napkin; Philistine Smiley: mad

So, do you cut the meat while holding the knife in your right hand, then place the knife down, and regrip the fork with your right hand, before you take a bite?

As it happens, there was no need for the knife. The meat just fell away from the bone.

The sauce was rich with tomato, basil, garlic and lemons, but cooked on the bone, the chicken tasted like. . . . Chicken Smiley: um

No pretty pictures, but dinner today is basil catfish stew with roasted red peppers, linguini, and parmesan and swiss cheese sauce, paired with a local muscadine wine (Chateau Elan's Duncan Creek) and with Heath bar cookies for dessert.

Most civilized people eat with the fork held tines down in left hand and cut food with knife in right hand. Or so I've seen in movies. I still eat with my fingers so who knows.

Edit: oh guess it depends on the continent: http://www.brightcove.tv/title.jsp?title=377215164&channel=2235976

Ya, I made the comment because when I took all my Spanish courses in highschool, our teacher mentioned to us that in the US, it was proper to cut your food, and then switch hands and eat it with your right. Where as in Spain, they would not bother switching hands and just continue using the fork with the left.

I just didn't know how far it stretched. Personally I don't bother switching hands because it's an added hassle. I was never one for proper table manners. I figure as long as I chew with my mouth closed and just be clean about it, no one will care.

When not formally dining, I eat A l'Americaine - chop food and then eat with fork in right hand.

Whe in a posh restaurant or eating at the table at home, I eat with knife in right hand (held in an open fist, NEVER held like a pen) and fork in the right hand.

When in Spain, I eat with a l'Americaine, with a fork in my right hand, but with a concealed switchblade under the table in my right hand

Fork in Right hand...

Switchblade in right hand under table...

Two right hands?

Assuming you have a left hand because of the previous two statements, that only means that you must have a second right arm which can hide under the table while your other right arm is above the table with the fork.

Thus... 3 armed freak.

This could be explained by me making a mistake, but as we know that simply isn't possible, we have to assume that the English language has failed you again.

Why if it wasn't for you meddling kids
