Sarkozy calling...

Uh-oh. The Canadian Press (the Canadian version of AP) reports:

MONTREAL — A Quebec comedy duo notorious for prank calls to celebrities and heads of state has reached Sarah Palin, convincing the Republican vice-presidential nominee she was speaking with French President Nicolas Sarkozy.

In the interview, which lasts about six minutes, Palin and the pranksters discuss politics, pundits, and the dangers of hunting with current vice-president **** Cheney.

The Masked Avengers, who have a regular show on Montreal radio station CKOI, intend to air the full interview on the eve of the U.S. elections.

The well-known duo of Sebastien Trudel and Marc-Antoine Audette have also tricked Rolling Stones singer Mick Jagger, Microsoft founder Bill Gates and French president Jacques Chirac.

And if you want to listen, here is the audio

"You know Hustler's... Nailin' Palin?"

Palin: "Oh... good... thank you, yes."

"That was really edgy"

Palin: "Well, good..."

"I really loved you"

My brother called me about this at work earlier yesterday. She sounds like a giddy school girl meeting Brad Pitt. LOL @ not knowing that one of our closest allies doesn't actually speak English well enough to carry a conversation of that sort. Also, lol @ not knowing the leader of the country that not only borders our nation, but her state.

Not to sound superior, but upon my brother reading me the name of the Canadian PM that was named during the convo, I immediately said: "But Stephen Harper is the PM of Canada. Smiley: confused"

I think a little payback for the robocalls you never had to endure was in order. GFY.

I thought it was amusing.

It didn't sound anything like Sarkozy, though. Neither the voice, nor the accent. What struck me was how star-struck she sounded. All this giggling and mushing and praising. It's not like it was anybody that important...

This would have been so much more amusing if she has answered and spoken perfect French, and began discussing complex French domestic issues with him.

Something along those lines.

Had she answered in flawless French I'd be wondering if she were some sort of savant.

If she'd answered in flawless English I would at least have been somewhat appeased.
