Terrified Christians Write Letter From The FutureFollow

All I got was "ZOMG OBAMA WILL LET THE GAYS GET MARRIED THE WORLD HAS ENDED."

Because really, Christianity is all about not letting gays get married, and now because of this theoretical Obama Supreme Court, everyone on earth is going to Hell!

It's funny...I thought it would be full of hyperbolic slippery slope predictions intended to scare people, but many of those policies I would actually welcome. Smiley: laugh

Yes, American society will be doomed the moment we gays are no longer legally a secondary class. Smiley: nod

It's not just gays affected by same sex marriage. I thought I'd point that out. You know, the spectrum and all that. But also, i remember watching Pat Robertson blaming Quebec Separatism on the legalization of same sex marriage. Like srsly. Even though if you accept his insane premise, you have to recognize that there has been a push since 1960.

Cat,

Thank you for a amusing lunch read. I'm surprised the author didn't include anything on immigration. Maybe if its only homosexual immigrants…….

Edited to add the biggest fear of the author....

Indeed, this hurts my stomach to laugh so hard.

"Because really, Christianity is all about not letting gays get married, and now because of this theoretical Obama Supreme Court, everyone on earth is going to Hell!"

I can't really take you seriously if you truly believe this, but ah well..

Since, you know, in the pdf itself it noted that many christians will vote for Obama, and many will not.. but I guess christianity is all about certain catch phrases you can post in a forum and say they're all the same. But I do agree this pdf is pretty crappy, but then again, what in politics isn't crappy?

During the debates both candidates were specifically asked if they were going to pass same sex marriage and both answered "No", though Obama tried to note that he was going to give more rights to them so they are better recognized, but not marriage specifically at least through congress...

So this makes the entire PDF kind of nill point too... And if Christians did think that everyone on earth is going to hell when gays get married, It already occurs at the Netherlands, France, and about 4 other countries (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Same-sex_marriage)...

So uh, I can't really take you seriously, nor the pdf itself. :/

As a person who subscribes to the Christian faith (don't like calling myself a Christian) I don't see what the fuss is about. I mean if marriage as a whole was something to defend I would understand, but Christians and Non-Christians alike have done a good enough job destroying it. I doubt recongnizing homosexual couples as a family unit will ruin anything.

I feel that the Christian faith as a whole is missing the mark. I believe the faith is all about loving everyone at all cost. Instead it has become this elite community where we cant coexist until everyone first adheres to a list a rules. /rant off

Edit: Clarity

Xackery,

This was not meant to be taken seriously by anyone on the Asylum (although Varrus probably would agree with it.) Look up Wonkette on Google; the entire website is liberal snark and satire.

I posted this because I was laughing at it, not because I took it seriously.

Real true Christians, the ones that actually believe the religion and not their pastors, realize that there are more important things to worry about than whether people that love each other get married or not. Like feeding the hungry and such. And as Margaret Cho put it in her most recent rant, "If you were really Christians you would buy them ******* wedding presents from ******* Bed Bath & Beyond!"

Isn't the world going to end in 2012 anyway? For that matter, what ever happened to the Rapture that's supposed to happen any day now, for the last, oh I don't know, 2000 years?

Not until after the election.

Dear God, I think I have lost faith in your children.

My apologies, dude, but seriously. Get to whooping their asses or something. Geez. They make you look bad, son.

/gangster

Anyways... I really do find stuff like this depressing. The fact that somebody took the TIME to do this. The author only sees it from one viewpoint. His. Making things better for another peoples, by lessening his ability to hate and segregate them, is totally stripping his freedom.

Anytime someone says "true christians" my as* twitches. "True Christians" believe life begins at conception.

im i christian. and i hate what the conservative right is making real christians look like. i cant stand that they are so hugely for making laws that stop gays from getting married in the name of christianity, and so hugely against making laws that distribute overly wealthy peoples money because they earned it. jesus taught much more about selling all you have and giving it to the poor, than he did about what the true institiution of marriage is. so imo, if we are going to make government laws based on christianity, i lean with the libs on this one. republicans dont speak for the true christians, but then again neither do democrats.
