How cool is this idea? I love creative stuff like that. I hope it's hugely successful.
I already voted and got my flu shot, but not at once! Hannah does not get to vote, but will get her flu shot next month (they're really late at her pediatricians this year I think...doesn't November 22nd seem late?).

Cool idea.
My two had their flu shots a couple weeks back and my pediatrician totally pressured me into getting one. I never do, usually. She made it seem like I was endangering the lives of my children or something by not getting one.
Really I'm just a baby about needles.

Yeah, I got mine a couple weeks ago and probably wouldn't have if my work didn't have them for free in the building right next to mine, haha. I'm a big sissy about the needles too.

I got a flu shot once. It made me sicker than I've ever been. I've never had another one since.
My ped is out of flu shots atm for the kids. They dont know when the next shipment is coming in. Thats a pretty cool idea though

Flu mist. I actually read it might even be better than the shot in protection. Dunno if thats true, but I'll keep an eye out Tare if I find a place that carries it. I want to look for that kind for the boys seeing as Xavier whimpers when I mention flu shot

I actually don't mind catching the flu. It gives me a week at home playing some MMO or the guitar, and the gf takes good care of me. It's pretty cool. Flu is totally misunderstood and misappreciated. All this propaganda is just about giving flu a bad name, and all you guys are contributing to it!!
Though I realise most of you have kids, so yes, it's different then. But still, you could just, I dunno, quarantine the kids while you're ill or something.

The secondary infections that take hold. Certain bacteria thrive on the waste products produced when your immune system smacks down the virus, so bacterial infections were once a huge problem following the flu. Not so much in the era of antibiotics, but if you get an antibiotic resistant strain, it could be a problem.

I used to give blood a lot right? I started it for community service for some class and since the red cross got my number they kept calling, and I kept going.

I would never accept that offer. I haven't gotten the flu shot in years because I always have a bad reaction.

IF, perchance, you do not get a flu shot, and suspect you have the flu, get to the health care provider of your choice and get a shot of Tamiflu (sp?) within 48 hours. This stuff rocks. (Warning: Anecdotal evidence follows) A couple years ago, my wife (the nurse) brought the flu home and gave it to me. We got to the doctor on the same day, but since she contracted it a couple days before she gave it to me, she was not eligible for the Tamiflu shot, but I was. As a result, she suffered terribly for two weeks, while I was feeling great within a few days.
While some of you may choose to stay home sick and suffer for two weeks while someone takes care of you, keep in mind that you can get the shot, feel better, and still stay home and have someone take care of you. Just remember to respond to all inquiries about how you feel with something suitably grim. If you you act all chipper and jolly they might lose their incentive to take care of you.

Thom gets his vax next week, I believe. I don't know that I've ever had one (probably) but my wife is another one who has gotten horribly sick off one and never got it again.
