My Grandmother and Aunt both seriously believe that Obama is the Antichrist.

I love my family, but some times I wish they weren't so blindly religious.

I know I'm gonna regret asking, but what Scripture are they basing this belief upon?

Many people think this... all around the country it seems.

Ask your people this:

If they are good Christians; shouldn't they hope that he is the anti-Christ? Shouldn't they want Judgment Day to come so that the world can be purged of sinners and so that the Kingdom of Heaven can finally be revealed to all true believers?

or ask them if it's really because he's black... that that's really what it usually really seems to boil down to.

I struggle to see how anyone can be anything other than religeous 'blindly'.

Hope they're wrong, but I'm not a huge fan of His Obamaness either.

Aztec 2012, end of the world, run!!!!!

Some of this stuff is so silly. I guess you could never explain to them using scientific theorem and laws that what they believe in, is quite fantastical?

I think it's more because they believe he is Muslim. My Grandmother hates Muslims and loves Bill O'reilly. She came to my college once on a family weekend, and she was saying some very offensive stuff about anyone who was Indian, Middle Eastern, etc. likening them to Terrorists, etc.

My Aunt, when my cousins were younger, believed that Disney and Television as well as any cartoons at all were Satan. The only toys they were allowed to have were LEGOs.

While some (or many) people here may think of me as a misled idiot, I think I'm outstanding compared to a lot of my family.

I think my Grandmother would have had a heart attack or something. I think she nearly did when I told her I did not believe in a God, and considered myself an Athiest.

At least my Aunt accepts that I don't believe the same as her. My Grandmother would have tried anything in her power to change me if I had been around her more as a child.

friend o mine was raised by his zealot grandmother.
he was left-handed.
She forced him to write with his right hand.
as a result his handwriting is unintelligible no matter what hand he writes with.

Yo, don't turn back now!
Just admin that you are a racist Maya-hating white supremacist who views all non-whites as the same dregs of society be they from Mexico or the Yucatan; robbing a liquor store or predicting the end of the world.

man up, fool!

The schools did that to my mother. She was left handed as a child, and the teachers in the public schools told her it was wrong and forced her to write with her right hand.

Last time I was in the Yucatan, I was also in Mexico.

Was going to use /schooled smiley, but I believe it is grossly overused around here.

/bow

After leaving the Yucatan, I went to San Cristobal in Chiapas. That was luvly until the Government of the time (end of '93) decided it had had enough of the locals marching for their rights, and bombed the **** out of the place using helicopters and planes supplied by the US to combat drug-traffickers.

After a couple of days of dodging around the attacks, me and my girlfriend hopped onto a bus and fleed, and we ended up hanging around a place called Palenque.

Palenques an amazing place, full on rainforest swarming with howler monkeys and exquisite hummingbirds, and is the location of the Temple of Inscriptions, where that whole Mayan 2012 prediction thing comes from. We spent an evening in Pacal Votans burial chamber whilst tripping on the local mushrooms, which was an.......experience, to be sure.

Anyway. Central America is where I first experienced 'war', and where i first started to seriously question the harm that 'religeon' (as opposed to 'spirituality') does in the world.

So yeah. GFY.

The Antichrist is a fantastic book...
