...good thing he requested that speedy trial so he could clear his name before election day!

Sadly, I wouldn't be surprised if he still won. He brings home enough bacon to feed everyone.

Yes, but it's other peoples' bacon.

Ayn Rand doesn't know it's not bacon.

Did you just call Ayn Rand a *****?

Many progressives agree with this sentiment!

I would like to thank Stevens on Senator Reid's behalf.

Lol. Now he's telling people he hasn't been convicted.

Quote:
“I’m not going to step down. I have not been convicted,” Stevens said according to a transcript provided by the Anchorage Daily News .

That conviction must just be semantics.

This is like Palin saying the Troopergate report proves she didn't break the law.

Well, except for the first page or so where it gives chapter & verse of which bit of legal code she violated.

They have a funny idea of the law up there in Alaska.

Stevens just needs to fuss about it for a few more days until McCain loses the election so Palin can step in and fill his shoes.

If Stevens wins re-election, then decides to step down in the interest of the party, guess who gets to appoint his replacement?

Here's a hint... she could appoint herself.

If Palin wins the Vice-Presidency and Stevens wins the Senate seat and steps down then Palin, as governor, should appoint herself to the Senate and she'd fulfil Cheney's dream! A true executive-legislative hybrid!

That's just poppycock and you know it Joph. If Palin becomes VP then Stevens is irrelevant because she'd be the boss of the Senate anyway.

Well if this administration taught us anything is that all Executive positions are open for interpretation. Maybe she'd turn the VP spot into a day-time talk show. "Naming Your Baby with Sarah Palin" sounds like a hit to me.
