This story does not surprise me. I live about thirty miles East of Pittsburgh and I can say with complete honesty that people around here are f*cking insane. Oh sure there are quite a few normal people around, but compared to the other places I've been we have a higher percentage of weirdos and crackpots than most places.

By the way, Murtha was telling the truth, there are alot of racists around here. Obama should still win the state though, PA has been fairly blue for quite some time.

Well, McCain and Palin both called her to give their support so that's two people.

And the Obama campaign issued a statement. That's not buying, that's CYA and to be expected.

Pretty much every site I ran across seemed to be putting a whole lot of "IF"s, and "benefit of the doubt" type statements out there.

And, according to TPM, the Pennsylvania branch of the campaign was pushing the story on the press before it fell apart.

Dunno if "pushing" is the right word there Joph. He was called by a news station and repeated what he heard. The challenge made in the article somewhat strangely asserts that he gave a version of the events "well before the facts of the case were known or established". Um... Not to be obvious, but how much news would there be on a given day if this was the actual requirement for anyone to make a statement to the press?

Honestly, I don't give a dry fuck. McCain's two day window where Obama was off the stage and in Hawaii has been dominated by Palin's Wardrobe and some dippy campaign volunteer making up racist stories. I'm properly amused Smiley: smile

I knew this was bogus from the beginning. Pittsburgh doesn't have a "good part" to separate from the "bad part".

Nah, there is a rather pleasant tree-lined street in the upper west side...

Turns out Ashley was actually a paid staffer (College Republican National Committee), not a volunteer. Looks like the McCain camp is trying to distance themselves from this.
