Which is why I ask if you guys will lobby to repeal it.
Yes and I have emailed Obama about his position on it already, among other policies, all you get is an automated response from the Obama campaign saying they will look into your request.
Having said that, I think Obama and Congress can find a way to compromise so that our civil liberties are protected while still preserving some of the security changes that were made after Sept. 11'th. They are not doing that right now. In 2007 the Justice Dep't concluded after an internal investigation that the FBI had been illegally abusing the Patirot Act.
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/11100916/ The new FISA amendment was even more generous giving away civil liberties, and the FBI is now lobbying Congress to basically extend the NSA FISA powers for domestic cases inside the US.
I don't want to give up my freedoms to people who have already been convicted of abusing them.
I think right now Obama is trying to be the best general candidate he can without revealing too much of his hand, so I am hopeful he will be more vigilante once he is in office. We really need to clean up the voting procedures as well, and he was a voting & civil rights attorney and professor of constitutional law, so I think he does value the Constitution and wants to protect its integrity and meaning.
