Why? To hear what liberals, under the facade of neutrality, think the american people need to hear? I might as well just come here and see what you people are rambling about and save myself the effort.

Incidentally this kind of reporting is a primary reason main news outlets are laying off people by the 100's. Unfortunately for liberals pandoras box has been opened and the populace are no longer content with the main 3 news agencies as well as local newspapers for their sole source of information.

I always feel bad for the paranoid people who are convinced that every news outlet is so biased that they can't believe anything anyone tells them.

To be fair, some definitely are. But anything like PBS, NPR, and C-SPAN are completely without bias.

I agree. Like I said, I feel bad for those people who see that and assume that every news outlet is.

The fairness doctrine? You mean the obsolete FCC policy that Obama has openly said he's against?

ETA: He's come out against the Fairness Doctrine despite support from such Dem bigwigs as Nancy Pelosi and Big John Kerry. He's such a mav-rick, that one.

I know that Obama is out there talking about distributing wealth and that's not a good thing.

I would say yes to C-Span being unbiased.

I dunno how you can sit there and tell me these stations are biased. They're like reading an encyclopedia.

Hey....don't get me wrong varrus.

The main reason I want Obama to win have nothing to do with me thinking he's a great guy who is the saviour of the world.

I don't.

I actually think he's a bit of an cnut, who will make lots of bad decisions regarding perpetuating the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and pandering to idiots who believe the US is threatened by foreigners, amongst other things......

No the reasons for me wanting Obama to win are, in no particular order :

1. The US has been in the hands of lots of old white cnuts for ever. Its time for a younger black cnut to have an innings, if only to piss off bigoted fucks like yourself. I'm frothing at the gash in anticipation of the apoplectic reactions from the religeous right.

2. I think McCain is a delusional old ****, who may die or become incapacitated at any moment. That would leave Palin. She is a creationist and a fundamentalist Christian and as such has no right to be in a position that requires rational, logical and analytical thought.

3. Obama might surprise me and actually be a really good president, who genuinly wants to improve the lives of his fellow human beings who share the planet with him.

Well. He didn't actually say much directly. His press secretary said "Senator Obama does not support re-imposing the Fairness Doctrine on broadcasters". But he qualified that with "He considers this debate to be a distraction from the conversation we should be having about opening up the airwaves and modern communications to as many diverse viewpoints as possible", and "That is why Senator Obama supports media ownership caps, network neutrality, public broadcasting, as well as increasing minority ownership of broadcasting and print outlets.".

I think it's pretty clear that his "opposition" to the fairness doctrine had less to do with an ideological disagreement with it, and a whole lot to do with not wanting to be embroiled in a discussion about it. Um... But the list of things he does want to do certainly puts him in the same room as those who do want the fairness doctrine.

What exactly does "Opening up communications to as many diverse viewpoints as possible" mean? Because that's the same argument used in support of the fairness doctrine. And honestly the list of things he does support are just as bad...

Worse than the last 8 years that got you teetering on the edge of a 'full-blown depression? Remains to be seen but I struggle to see how he could be worse than Bush has been.

Better a marxist than a creationist imo.

#68REDACTED, Posted: Oct 21 2008 at 1:08 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Look, Obama is a master of the tongue. He manages to say exactly what people want to hear to each and yet, no one blinks an eye or thinks to themselves for a minute about what he is actually saying to them.

I really think you're going to find it's not as bad as all that.

For the first three years they'll be occupied with fixing the mess we're currently in; after that they'll push for health care and get shot down.

Relax.
