It's probably because you are a woman. Don't worry, Varus will be able to help you regardless of your "condition".

Just be glad you aren't a black woman like Totem, or you wouldn't be able to get anything done. Because your blackness would keep you from being a rational human being.

It's a well known fact that having a black ****** condemns one to a life of mindless sex and as many illegitimate chi'ren as one can crank out.

Black female sexuality. If only we could harness it for good. Smiley: frown

Feel free to continue minimalizing the condition of the black community, you and your kind are enabling them to continue this cycle of poverty and dependence.
This comment is silly.

And yes most of them are voting for Obama simply because he is black; the same way most blacks think OJ was framed by a racist police dept.
Oh really?

This is no different than the democrat belief that anyone who doesn't support obama is a backwood hillbilly clinging to their "guns and religion".
Oh really?

Now how long has Totem been around this forum? And how many posts does timelord have?

LOL...
Far be it from me to speak for TLW, but I believe he was making a joke right thar.
#32REDACTED, Posted: Oct 20 2008 at 7:24 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Look, I don't think the black vote that Obama is getting is purely due to the race card they all so lovingly like to play, but, more is that its a couple points.

Then you might want to stop up your ears.

Tim Mahoney ****** around with consenting adult women. How is that atrocious? Especially compared to what Mark Foley was up to?

(A) Buy a newspaper. I knew about the story the day it broke via the usual "mainstream" sources.
(B) Foley's story drew so much attention because it:
- Involved homosexuality
- Involved a Congressional page
- Involved someone widely seen as a youth
- Involved a cover-up tying in high ranking Republicans including then-Speaker Dennis Hastert.

Mahoney deserves to be (and has been) in the news. Trying to compare his "case" to Foley's is just Republican silliness.

Really? Why is it I've been hearing for years that it's ~50% overall for divorce in the U.S.?

That number is derived from comparing the number of marriages in a given year to the number of divorces, which is silly because the people marrying in any given year are not the same as those divorcing. The numbers I quoted are those who have ever been divorced.

The actual divorce rate in the U.Ss has been declining since around 1980 after a huge spike in the 60s and 70s.

Also: serial monogamists drive up the numbers.

The stat you hear quoted, that "fifty percent of all marriages end in divorce" was based on marriages as of the 70s, as Mindel pointed out. Some of those people had been married for 40 years and miserable for 30 of them.

#39REDACTED, Posted: Oct 20 2008 at 8:12 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) It's atrocious because he ran a family values campaign then turns around and slaps everyone in the face. Not only that, he had an affair with other high ranking officials in his county while in office. I'm sure that would go over very well if I had an affair with say another shops Lieutenant, oh wait no it wouldn't I would get captains masted and kicked out of the military.

Barack Obama has opened his biggest lead yet over John McCain in Virginia. The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey in the state finds Obama now leading 54% to 44%. The Democrat leads 51% to 48% among men and 57% to 42% among women (see full demographic crosstabs).

Just one week ago, Obama held a three percentage point lead but Obama has been dramatically outspending McCain on television advertising in this critical state. The Democrat has now been ahead of McCain in five straight Virginia polls conducted by Rasmussen Reports.

Of course they do. Democrats, in spite of your cherished prejudices, are human.

So are Republicans, again in spite of your cherished prejudices.

He won't resign, and contends he has done "nothing wrong". Now, you have to remember Foley was cleared of any criminal wrong-doing. The seriousness of Foley's actions was a little more due to the fact it was a teenager, but, criminally, they are the same.
Uhm, no, they're not. Adultery is an unenforced 2nd degree misdemeanor in Florida. Sexual solicitation of a minor is a felony. Smiley: schooled

Also, Foley is big(ger) news because it was homosexual oriented? Really, is that why it's such big news when Homosexuals bring first graders to a homosexual wedding as a FIELD TRIP?!? Do not bring up ones sexual preference into the "seriousness" merit. It doesn't belong.
More serious? No. More likely to get press? Yes.

I'm curious, can you tell the difference between a story that receives a 2 minute blip and one that's covered 24hrs a day for a week?

Age of consent + reporting relationship. You?

How naive are you? Right or wrong, of course it gets more public attention when you can throw more salacious details into a scandal. Spitzer got more attention than Mahoney as well because Spitzer was frolicing with high-priced prostitutes instead of just having a single mistress like good God fearing people do.

I notice you didn't mention the cover-up angle which is what really drove the story as long as it did. It quickly went from "Foley did what?" to "Who knew about Foley and how long ago did they learn it?"

Guys guys guys. Remember, it's not the crime, it's the cover-up that gets you in trouble. Watergate taught us that much.

That's why nobody would let Troopergate die out either. If Palin had admitted that she was pestering someone to fire her ex-brother-in-law in court the first time she was subpoenaed, it would have been over and done with and she'd have been slapped on the wrist and kicked back out on the campaign trail. But once she realized that people would percieve her negatively if she admitted she was wrong, she started crying partisanship and saying she wasn't going to play along. Which of course made things twice as suspicious, since if she did nothing wrong, why wouldn't she agree to say so in court?

Same thing with the Foley scandal. The salacious gossip was doubly salacious because people knew he was soliciting NAMBLA sex with pages and no one reported him.
