I think I'm actually going to vote this year, too. i filled out my voter registration (thanks to Joph and the link in his sig) and got my voter registration card the other day. I just don't know how to go about actually voting...do you go into one of those shower-stall booths and pull the lever on the big machine? Like a slot machine? That's all I remember from our elementary school pseudo-voting experience.

It varies from place to place...I forget where in NY you live Deb?

It appears that if you fill out the form, they'll show you where to go vote and what a sample ballot looks like. Don't worry though, there will be instructions when you get there. If you don't have electronic voting machines (which seems unlikely) you'll probably either have the lever kind, the kind where you punch out your selection with a small metal thinger (bewarrrrrrrrrrre the hanging chad!) or you'll have to fill out an arrow to select your candidate/option. We have the kind where there's an arrow with a section missing that you fill out in sharpie or whatever to complete the arrow...

ETA: Oh here you go Deb...I found the following blurb on http://www.smartvoter.org/ny/rck/
Quote:
Know Your Voting Machine--http://www.vote-ny.com/ Here you will find the information you need about the election process and the voting machines available in your specific polling place. The NYS Board of Elections hopes that these resources will answer any voting questions you have and will provide you with a better understanding of what to expect when you arrive at your polling place on Election Day.

Looks like you're levering it up!

I got in trouble for telling a teacher that ducking and covering was just stupid. To be fair, we'd just seen a film including shots of Hiroshima in the aftermath. "Duck and cover" looked pretty friggin' lame.

They tell you to duck and cover so you won't get in the way of the REAL AMERICANS that are trying to escape. You know, the ones in REAL AMERICA who are able to love. Not you babykillingblackmuslimterroristamericanhatingcitylivingliberalelitist types.

I answered his question quite seriously. Others did as well.

Persecution isn't a pretty color on you.
I'll be honest with you joph it's hard to get your point across when it's 20 people against 3 people who actually have the same idea's as you. It's like hitting a brick wall when trying to bring a new idea to the table and your never wrong. i gave up long ago trying to say any thing about politics in this place.
