I know, right? Smiley: frown

I watched that ad, and it is alarming just how yellow McCain's teeth are...

Funny thing is that I actually see Obama ads here in Chicago. I'm guessing that it's because the Chicago media market extends into Wisconsin and Indiana (two battleground states for one price!) and not just because Obama has too much money.

I'm so sick of the ads...the race for senate is the one that's really tiring me out. All the ads here are just annoying and both campaigns seemed to have selected the most irritating narrators ever. Three more weeks, and it'll all be over...for now.

McCain: (Dear in the headlights, spasms, creepy smile)

I think McCain was too busy reading his index cards last debate to remember that.

This was my favorite moment of the debate. The look on McCain's face was priceless. He had this 'Does not compute' look on his face; maybe his brain tried to divide by that zero or something.

When the entire point of Obama's plan is that everyone *must* participate in the plan for it to work, and he's proposing fines for those who don't participate, it's a bit hard to believe him when he says "Oh. But Joe the Plumber wont be fined if he doesn't participate". You've got to be pretty darn naive to believe that...

Small businesses are not required to participate...they only receive a tax incentive to do so (they can be credited up to 50% of the cost of the premiums to their employees). Unless I'm missing something, I don't see why "Joe the Plumber" would be fined for anything.

Well not getting paid an incentive is sorta the same as a fine, isn't it?

haha, not really in this case...if they're not paying for the employee's premiums, they're not losing even 50% of the money toward them.

Off-topic, but injecting yourself into politics is a *****.

Less than 24 hours post-debate and we now hear that Joe the Plumber is related to Charles Keating's son-in-law, doesn't have the valid plumbing license required for his job and has liens filed against his property for... not paying his income tax.

Joe says that the election should be about issues, not him and to leave him alone.

Too bad this doesn't convert to avatar size well, or I'd renew premium just to use it.

The liberal elite at Bloomberg news looked at the Joe the Plumber situation re: Obama
Bloomberg wrote:
Under Obama's proposal, Wurzelbacher would face about $900 more in taxes if he netted $280,000 of income from his new business and had to pay an extra 3 percentage points on the amount over $195,851, said Gerald Prante, a senior economist at the Tax Foundation, a Washington research group that is examining both candidates' plans.

``His average tax burden, the final bill he pays to the IRS isn't going to go up much if he's just making $280,000 a year,'' Prante said. He would face higher marginal tax costs to expand the business beyond that, he said.

Not Taxable Income

It's far more likely that the $280,000 Wurzelbacher told Obama he'd earn would be in the form of gross receipts and not taxable income, said Steven Bankler, a certified public accountant in San Antonio, who counts plumbers and other trade professionals as his clients.

By the time Wurzelbacher took proper business deductions, Bankler said, he'd be left with between $150,000 and $200,000 in taxable income and wouldn't be affected by Obama's proposed increase in the top rates.

Wurzelbacher might eventually have to pay more employment taxes under Obama's plan to impose a rate of between 2 percent and 4 percent on wages over $250,000, Bankler said, but Obama has said that change wouldn't take effect for a decade.
Of course, if he can't pay his taxes now , that $900 might make all the difference.

Speaking of Senate votes, I knew I was in a different world this week, when I heard a campaign commercial on the radio from Elizabeth Dole, lashing out at her opponent after attending a fundraiser that was put on by a political group "Godless Americans Political Action Committee." about dealing with immoral vile people, who wished to get aetheists into the boyscouts (along with homosexuals) and who wanted to do away with Christmas, the pledge of allegiance, and how North Carolinians did not want these kind of people around.

I'm not atheist, but Im not religious either, and it felt like a complete slap across the face to take one type of people in their own beliefs and vilify them. If you took out the word atheist and replaced it with Christian or Jewish, Dole would not only be done with her campaign, but she would also be thrown into court in a blink of an eye.

Fortunately, she seems to be losing her grasp on NC.

Sut seriously? i never heard crap like that back in Mass. It would be unheard of

Must be nice to make promises that aren't supposed to take effect until 2yrs after your second term.

So basically what you're saying is that you think Obama will be a two term president. I can dig it.

Punk,

Actually Obama is saying that none of his policies will take effect until 2yrs after what he believes to be his second term.

No no, he's saying that he's going to get rid of Presidential term limits. Also: develop a formula to live forever. Then it's only a matter of time before he develops the ability to shoot lazerrr beams (pewpewpew) out of his eyes at unsuspecting, innocent, gun-toting, 6-pack of beer at time, rape-spawn luvin', venison eating, god-fearing, war-mongering, against-their-best-interest-voting, plumbers! LOOK OUT JOE, WTF!?!?!

After watching the debate, I realized that Obama is actually running the kind of campaign that McCain wanted to run.

And I don't just mean the sweet, sweet cash.

I mean the fact the Obama has taken the "high road", while McCain's switched to the low. McCain's resorted to "80 %" attack adds and such. He even hired people who "deserve their own special place in hell" for the things they said about HIM to his very own Campaign.

He's old, he can't run again 4 years from now and he'll do anything to win.

He's desperate, so prepare for the "Swift boat" adds. Probably one of those Republicans that sat on the board with Obama and Ayers spouting off about planning 9/11, just the 3 of them.

Rove and his cronies are involved so anything is possible.

Also, anyone else notice that Rove is a pundit now?

He can now say horrible things that fire up the base and then argue on FOX that he didn't say it.

All Obama really has to do is stay on message & hopefully the rest of America tires of divisive politics like they tired of Ayers.
