How about the Brady election itself?

Keep on believing Smiley: smile

McCain is attempting a relaunch of his campaign today. Think about it -- three weeks until election day and McCain still hasn't found a platform to run on. He's being forced to defend red states. He's sending Palin to West Virginia for God's sake.

Sure... Wilder/Brady effect. Hang your hat on it.

In related news, there was a huge beer truck parked at the Obama campaign headquarters here when I drove past this morning. Yay!

Smiley: boozing

I don't think anyone has been called a racist for mentioning that race is a factor.

Typical neocon defensiveness. Smiley: rolleyes

McCain's campaign has issued parts of McCain's big campaign relaunch speech.

So... in the face of a flagging negative campaign which is failing in the polls, McCain's bold new direction is... a fully negative speech about how much Obama sucks? Smiley: dubious

Washington is on the wrong track and I’m going to set it right. The American people know my record. They know I am going to change Washington, because I’ve done it before. They know I’m going to reform our broken institutions in Washington and on Wall Street because I’ve done it before. They know I’m going to deliver relief to the middle class, because that’s what I’ve done.
Seems all he has to say anymore is "Look at my record," and "I will change things" (with no indication as to how).

Black Democrat Congressman;

In a statement issued Saturday, Lewis said McCain and running mate Sarah Palin were "sowing the seeds of hatred and division, and there is no need for this hostility in our political discourse." He noted that Wallace also ran for president.

"George Wallace never threw a bomb. He never fired a gun, but he created the climate and the conditions that encouraged vicious attacks against innocent Americans who were simply trying to exercise their constitutional rights," said Lewis, who is black. "Because of this atmosphere of hate, four little girls were killed on Sunday morning when a church was bombed in Birmingham, Alabama."

Like I said any attack on Obama is viewed as racist in nature. And then reported as such.
Good lord, you're obtuse.

It's a feast of twisted logic.

Rep. Lewis was attempting to draw a parallel. Is it overly dramatic? Maybe, though having seen some videos of people attending McCain/Palin rallies lately, I start to wonder. The fact is that in the 1960s, politicians had the choice between attempting to smooth over the adoption of the CRA, or to whip their constituents in to a furor over it. Wallace chose the later, and sadly, innocent people (white and black, mind you) died.

The point being that politicians, and all leaders of society, should be very careful when trying to stoke the basest of human emotions. You cannot predict the consequences, and if you take it too far, people can get end up getting hurt or worse as a result.

I don't think McCain is racist. I do think he's an opportunist who'll allow his campaign to use racism to help his numbers.

I'm not sure why Varrus thinks Lewis should be censured. Maybe he hates Freedom of Speech.
