I don't think you can necessarily call it a company if the president is barely making six figures. I hate to break this to you but if the local economy is sh*t moving might not be a bad idea. There are so many cities that are growing and great places to live and earn a living. Of course they're all in the south.
$150k may not sound like a lot to you, but I bet he can afford an '05 Nissan.

$250,000 income mark is aimed at individual income.

If you were making 250k annually running a business with 5 employees what incentive would you have to grow? I still remember the effects of Clintons tax increases on my fathers business. It was the primary reason he chose to not only stop growing but cut back on the number of offices he had to begin with. Those taxes meant 6 offices instead of going up from 15 to 20, or higher. That's 45 employees to 18. Do you think he was the one that paid for it?

Your father's an idiot. He should have gone the other direction. If he'd opened 200 offices he would be in place to receive bailout money to pay for resort outings.

Sucks when you don't have a viable reason to hate the mean old corporations that bring you so many of your day to day items. But we musn't mention how millions of illegal aliens are a huge factor in the housing crisis our economy currently faces. Gotta go after those ceo's who gave themselves millions. Tell me are you as prepared to go after jamie goerlick or barney frank. Between the two of them they took over 50mil from freddie and fannie.

Do you know how economics work?

See, this is an example of what one would call a "small business".

This was my biggest problem with him. Period. Especially on the social security question. Never was it more clear than on that answer.

Debo,

I don't believe in the word "greed". That's a socialist word used by socialists to foster class war fare. Some people want more than others and in a free country should be free to pursue that without the govn taking half of what they earn.

Who knew the Old Norse had a concept of socialism and class warfare? That's really something. You should publish a paper.

No, everyone wants the same thing. Just not everyone is provided with an even opportunity to get it.

The great lie. No one is born "even" life isn't "fair". That's no reason to force some people to pay a higher tax rate than another. And to think doing so will solve anything is the height of absurdity.

I think you just contradicted yourself.

"Life isn't fair."
"There's no reason to force some people to pay a higher tax rate than others."

According to your logic that life isn't fair, there's no reason NOT to make them pay more. Hell, life isn't fair, right? Jon McCain says so; that's why he's not winning in the polls right now. According to him, at least.

I see no problem with making people who make more pay more. They still have more at the end of the day than most of the country, and odds are they aren't working much harder to get it. Sure, high end jobs come with stress and responsibility; but there's a lot of stress and responsibility in trying to feed, clothe, and insure your family, and they'll never have to deal with that.

I agree with Knox for once. Life isn't fair: tax the rich f*ckers!

Umm, 'forcing' those who make more money to pay more in taxes does solve stuff. It fairly distributes the financial burden of upkeep - things like war are not free you know.

What's absurd is to think we can have a just, equitable, efficient, democracy when those who make lots of money are also the ones successfully lobbying our politicians for corporate tax breaks, loopholes and deregulation. Ultimately, leaving the lower/middle class to foot the bill for running this country.

Who cares? McCains going to refinance all the bad mortgages and have poor home owners pay the new rate on the devalued levels of their houses!

Well, until his own party finds the deal way to Mavericky and kills it in the house.

Again.

You know, I DO live in Georgia.

We haven't moved yet because the cost of living here matches the available income levels. I pay $220 a month in rent. The "expensive" houses around here barely top the $200K mark these days.

Aside from your general misunderstanding of the situation I don't believe you quite know how to use "quotation" marks "either."

I'm living in a smallish, one-bedroom apartment and paying $1,050 for the beautiful view of the cemetery. Er, more like the retaining wall under the cemetery.
