I am glad that McCain didn't bring up Ayers, b/c in tough economic times, people don't need to hear about some dumbass conspiracy theory.

No kidding. I'm waiting for the count on how many times he called us all his friends.

In last nights debate McCain used the phrase "my friends" 18 times.

@#%^ the media. The "that one" comment wasn't as sinister as it is being made out to be. He was talking about some bill that came up for vote that Bush and his people had tried to push through, and in trying to distance himself from Bush, he said (I'm paraphrasing):

Quote:
You know who voted for it? That one (points to Obama). You know who voted against it? I did.

I don't think it had any meaning to it at all and it's nothing more than a media hot potato.

I don't think it was racist or anything, but it does give the impression of frustration and sour grapes. As if McCain is so flustered, he can't bring himself to even utter his opponent's name. It's disrespectful too, to be talking to his face and not address him by either his name or his title. Pointing isn't exactly classy either.

I don't give a damn myself, but it certainly doesn't help McCain's image.

I won't claim "That one" was racist but it was certainly unpresidental and made McCain look like a crabby old man.

I was very surprised by the amount of mudslinging that actually went on at the debate. "Cronyism" is of course a common term for an attack ad, but not what you expect to hear when they're in each others' physical presence, certainly not on national television.

I liked the part where McCain nailed Obama on having the government interfere in our lives so much.

I mean, its like this regulation crap. Obama and his cronies have been trying to shove that market regulation crap down our throats for years.

Its time we stopped this government interference into our lives. Let the market control itself!!!

Trickle down economics will be better for everyone. You don't need to understand it for it to work.

McCain looked old but Obama looked idiotic. Also did you hear how many times Obama said something to the effect of the cost to the american people, i.e. rebuilding Georgia, Ukraine, and the rest of the old soviet republic. I'm curious how many of you run businesses that gross more than 250k annually. That's not very much. Obama scares the hell out of me and every other small businessman in the country.

Again Obama is NOT raising taxes on small businesses, you get tax breaks and tax credits for all sorts of things as a small business, the $250,000 income mark is aimed at individual income.

Don't let facts get in the way of empty rhetoric that is used to explain an unpopular stance, i.e. the rich should get tax cuts when we have a massive deficit.

Really, why has the disparity between CEOs and average workers increased so much(over 10x) in the last twenty years? Why have the wages of the middle quintiles decreased since 1979 in real dollars whereas the wages and the wealth of the top quintile, especially the top 1%, risen faster than any other group in America?

Well people are crazy for putting their trust in the government, regardless of who happens to be in power at the time. While some companies get wealthy on the backs of their employees most don't. It's simply bad business to treat the people who create your wealth poorly.
And yet, history has proven you wrong time and time again. A small business is more likely to treat their employees like people and find value in doing so. When a company becomes a giant and/or incorporates, and the guy who's signing the paychecks, and also deciding on bonuses and CEO salaries, never has to meet Joe laborer face to face, things change dramatically.

"Slow drip" might be a better term for trickle down economics when the average CEO makes upwards of 100x more than an average blue collar or even white collar worker?

I don't know could it have something to do with illegal immigration? Unless of course you don't consider construction workers average.

Yeah. It made us giggle.

Never mind the comment "That one.." I was going to shove my tv off my deck if I heard McCain say "I know how to do this" "I know how to fix this" one more time without following up with how.

33% of my town makes below the federal poverty rate. My job, at $10-15 an hour, is one of the highest paying non-professional positions in the area. This has nothing to do with taxes and everything to do with an oversaturated student labor pool. Most students are content to make minimum wage since school is paid for by the state. This job, on the other hand, runs strictly during regular business hours 40+ a week, which makes the employer unable to attract many students. They're forced to offer a higher wage. I believe the president of our company makes around $150K/year, which doesn't seem like much, but for the area, it's probably within the top five percent.
