Why is being homosexual "wrong"? Because your puritanical christian dogma decrees so?

You specifically want the entire country to bend to your own will. Guess what, several hundred thousand people don't view things exactly the same way you do.
I think I'm just the nicest, most moral lesbian ever. I help little old ladies carry their shopping, I'm kind to children and animals, and I always tell cashiers when they give me too much change.

By building a personal relationship with Jesus. Have you accepted Christ into your heart, Mindel? Have you??

I invited him in to my apartment.

Well, I didn't really invite him in. I paid him to move my furniture.

I totally bought him and his coworkers (disciples?) a pizza afterward, though.

That was thoughtful, and I'm sure the Son of God will repay you in kind.

So are you going to skulk off into hiding when Obama wins or do you plan on throwing your hissy fit publicly?

Because the Bible says it is and I believe the Bible to be the word of God. As do all true Christians.

Not my will, the will of God. And yes this country was founded on judeo-christian principles. Would you rather have the majority of citizens forced to recognize a practice they believe is immoral?

Mindel,

Quote:
But homosexuality is not considered immoral universally

Yes it is. There are far more people who believe homosexuality to be immoral than those that believe it's not.

1. We have this neat little thing called "Seperation of Church and State." Your bible has no place in my government.

2. Which christian principles do you think this country was founded on?

3. "Majority" and "Universal" are two completely different words with two completely different definitions.

Christians != Americans. You are part of society, not society itself.

No one's asking you to be gay, perish the thought.

Universally means by everyone, jackass. The majority of people don't like eating roasted cockroaches for dinner, should we be denying people the right to do so?

I thought the Mosaic Law of the Old Testament didn't apply to Christians. Smiley: confused How come you can eat shrimp and wear delightful cotton-blend clothing?

Actually, this country was founded on the principles of late-Enlightenment Deism. Smiley: schooled

You don't know what "universal" means, do you? And besides that, most polls find that only about 1/3 of people believe homosexuality to be immoral with the vast majority finding it to be either moral or morally neutral, or having no opinion one way or the other.

And yet, magically, still exists.

The government has plenty of places in your life. The police help you out if you're being attacked or have something stolen from you, for instance.

If you meant that my belief that homosexuality is moral has no place in your life, I completely agree. And the government recognizing homosexuals as the tax-paying American citizens that they are wouldn't affect you one bit. You are still allowed to be a bigot.

Haven't we been over all these points multiple times before with Varrus? It's just frustrating seeing people go at him as if they could convince him of anything. Or as if it were worth their time trying.

I know you're right, it's just so hard to not want people to be smarter. Smiley: frown

It's sort of like that christian who insists on witnessing to the atheists who have told him time and time again they are not interested...

Yup. I'm still waiting for him to define 'God' for me. It seems he's willing to believe any old tripe, just because a bloke in a dress tells him its true.

Hey, Varrus...Do you believe that the world is 6000 years old too?

Apparently all 'true christians' do, you know.....?

Kind of like convincing liberals that theft and murder is wrong.

Well hammering him on subjective material or ethereal concepts usually leads to a dead end.

The best way is when you contradict his statement with plain facts, then you get to see which excuse he pulls out of his grab bag. It's like the Sarah Palin debate flowchart. If all else fails => call the source "liberal media."

I can define my beliefs.

You don't seem to be able to.

Doesn't that worry you?

Usually it seems that, when you give him a plain fact, he simply ignores the post and goes on his merry, deluded way.
