I'll probably finish up school, then try to head for Canada as soon as possible.

Or kill myself. We'll see how bad it gets.

I am, and using Extra Virgin Olive Oil, too.

This revolution will be organic.

Elne,

How in the world can you be a democrat? You realize all that talk about increasing corporate taxes is one of the key reasons companies are cutting costs?

I don't concern myself with negative waves like loosing a job.

I'm a Democrat because I think only way capitalism works, is if there are enough good paying jobs that allow people to afford to save their money and still have enough left over to buy goods and services that power our economy. The repugs have been all about the rich getting richer, while the rest of the nation has found itself slave to credit cards to cover basic needs.

What worries us is how so many people are just one paycheck away from finding themselves in default of their mortgage and other debts, if suddenly they are face without a job or illness in the family.

My granddaughter was just found to have same learning disability as I and half of my family have. While she will get some services free from the state, they also want her to be place in classes, that my daughter had to put on her credit card last week. Now she has to try to cancel the extra classes, as they try to cut all extras in their budget.

Kind of like the US and other countries are trying to get the world economy back on safe ground.

I'm going to cut some tree branches down and wittle them into makeshift spears. Then I'm going to go from neighborhood to neighborhood spearing people's pets. I will save them money on petfood, and I will be able to eat indefinitely. I'll also be stealing water from your hose pipes in front of your homes.

You will be providing my food and water, and I thank you.

Obviously you, and no few number of Obama supporters, don't.

While there are many theoretical and practical differences among the various forms of Marxism, most forms of Marxism share these principles:

* a belief that capitalism is based on the exploitation[3] of workers by the owners of the means of production
* a belief that people's consciousness of the conditions of their lives reflects the dominant ideology which is in turn shaped by material conditions and relations of production
* an understanding of class in terms of differing relations of production, and as a particular position within such relations
* an understanding of material conditions and social relations as historically malleable
* a view of history according to which class struggle, the evolving conflict between classes with opposing interests, structures each historical period and drives historical change
* a belief that this dialectical historical process will ultimately result in a replacement of the current class structure of society with a system that manages society for the good of all, resulting in the dissolution of the class structure and its support (more often than not including the nation state)

The main points of contention among Marxists are the degree to which they are committed to a workers' revolution as the means of achieving human emancipation and enlightenment, and the actual mechanism through which such a revolution might occur and succeed. Marxism is correctly but not exhaustively described as a variety of Socialism. Some Marxists, however, argue that no actual state has ever fully realized Marxist principles; other Marxists, such as Autonomists claim Marxist principles cannot be realized in any state construct seen through the 20th Century, and would necessitate a reconceptualization of the notion of state itself.

Obama is a Marxist, in that he's a part of the Democratic Party, which is as close to the Socialism side of the spectrum as it gets in America.
