I'm still with EQ2 and loving it. The guild halls are great (I play on Test, too). And I love all the ongoing world events. They've also added a new Halloween event, which is a first since the game started. It's hard, though Smiley: frown

Why'd he get rated down?

Because he's one of the Asylum whipping boys.
...and he likes it.

I don't like the sound of combat. Shoot the mob with a bow or a spell until they're on top of you and then beat them down? How original.

...hmmm. Holding out for Darkfall, me thinks, for the next game to 'try'.

Agreed. Eq2 seems to have the best graphics and storyline out of them all. WoW is very good too but you have to put up with a young player base.

Yep, this game has much to offer.

Serously enjoying my archmage. I manage to top the charts in the PQ I do while grinding influence. It's fun to kick *** doing damage and pulling off kick *** heals. Archmage is like the red mage of WAR.

Officially over war now. It was a flavor of the week that lastest 2 weeks. Shame too, just can't find enough to make me want to log in. The PvP is the best in any MMO, it's the PvE that is hurting. I don't think I realized how much I enjoy just PvE solo until you find a game that is utterly devoid of it.

I'm still enjoying it. They just need to fix a few really obnoxious bugs (random desync/crashing, /ignore not working, an instance entrances totally hosed sending to your bindpoint when you die)

The other night, I ended up about five minutes behind everything. I had to sit there and wait for everything to catch up. It happened twice, so I turned it off and refused to play again. It only happens on my laptop, though, and I can't figure out why it won't play right on there.

But the thing is, in EQ2, you don't *need* a group anymore, like you did in the beginning. Sure, there are quests and zones that you can't do alone, but if you want to you can skip those. And despite EQ2 becoming much more solo friendly, I'm always seeing grouping. I don't group up a lot myself because of time and my son, but I can find a group if I want one.

Uhh. Last I checked Warhammer was hugely group oriented right down to the first Public quests.

Ok, I only skimmed that post. But to me, WoW is "massive solo rush to get to 70, then nothing but grouping dungeons and boring dailies". I couldn't take any more of that. Or the community. I was in a good, mature guild when I played, but I was still surrounded by idiots (much like this forum).

Eh, that's why there are different games. No one game is going to be attractive to everyone.

you dont need a group in EQ1 either. you can solo all the way to 80 or 85 or whatever the new top level is.

If you could, it was only recently, as I played up until April or so of this year. Once you get to a certain point, the mobs just start hitting far too hard to be able to solo your way anywhere, aside from the soloing classes, of course.

but what can you really accomplish other than levels and aa points? are you going to see some really cool dungons? are you going to get some really cool loot? are you going to get the thrill of killing the super bad guy?

nope.

just levels. just the grind. bland rewards. boaring outdoor zones. sitting in some corner for months on end grinding away for the sake of levels alone and missing out on most if not all of the really cool stuff

Nonsense, absolute nonsense. Yes, WoW is a lot more open to solo players than EQI and to a point EQII. But there's no way in hell even in WoW that a solo player will ever get to see the truly cool dungeons, get the really cool loot or kill the super bad guy. Try out the dungeons in WoW at the appropriate level on your own, you'll get slaughtered in most. Same in EQII in several ones.

EQII has seen a lot of changes and has lowered the bar for the solo player almost to the point of WoW over the years, mostly with good changes.

EQI has changed a lot too, heck next expansion is going to add mercenaries, npc's players can buy (at reasonable prices even, in theory) to group with.

And correct me if I'm wrong, but even in WoW the main goal is to level up, grinding lvls and grind to get money to buy the bland spells and armour, just like in any other mmorpg.

Shadowrelm,

Love this post :)

I'm looking for a fun game to play to sate my gaming desires. I do like to group. Since you have played this for a while, would you recommend this game to people who like team building games?
#44REDACTED, Posted: Oct 14 2008 at 6:10 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) certainly.

Shelled out the $50 for the digital download of Warhammer. Got it installed in about 4 hours, set up my account, etc. etc.

Logged in, a level 1 Dwarven Rune guy. Couldn't do anything. Lowered the graphics, still couldn't do anything. Tried a race with a less laggy starting area, went fine for a few minutes, then crashed to desktop.

tl;dr

I really want to play more of it, but I need a new computer first :(
