Let's not re-invent history here. You can't find a clearer example of two politicians with polar opposite positions on something where one was proven to be wrong and one was proven to be right. McCain was right. Obama (and Biden) was wrong.

And by that logic, Obama was right for voting against the war (as the original justifications peddled by the White House have since been proven to be Bunk. And don't give me that shit about the "new" justifications that came out after there were no WMDs) and McCain (& Biden) was wrong.

Therefore, being right about a military tactic that has "held the fort" after this mistake of a war's early lack of planning resulted in an Iraqi Civil war and created a new "Central war on terror" doesn't matter a whole lot.

However, the surge was ordered by the President, McCain had nothing to do with it. Sure, he supported it, but if memory serves the only thing to pass congress that had anything to do with the "surge" was a non binding resolution saying congress disapproved of Bush's orders. And I think it only passed the house.

So wow, ONE of Bush's military orders worked, and McCain supported it. The ones that failed? McCain supported all of them too (Minus torture).

McCain was right to support Bush ONCE. Obama? Right to oppose him multiple times.

Yes. A bunch of Democrats proved that they don't know how to fight or win a war. Amazing how little things have changed.

World War II?
World War I?

Last I checked, both of those wars had Democratic CoCs.

Since we're talking about the past and all.

Nixon didn't really win that war. He pulled everyone out.

If he'd somehow managed to win it he'd probably still be President.

Well, by the most significant metrics we have right now, it looks as though Biden won the debate.
CBS News wrote:
Forty-six percent of the uncommitted voters surveyed say Democrat Joe Biden won the debate, compared to 21 percent for Republican Sarah Palin. Thirty-three percent said it was a tie.

Eighteen percent of previously uncommitted percent say they are now committed to the Obama-Biden ticket. Ten percent say they are now committed to McCain-Palin. Seventy-one percent are still uncommitted.
Miami Herald wrote:
WASHINGTON -- Undecided voters who watched Thursday's vice presidential debate really like Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin but they're not certain she's ready to lead the country, according to the findings of a new Ipsos/McClatchy online poll.
[...]
It also found that Palin's performance in the debate did nothing to clinch undecided votes for her running mate, Arizona Sen. John McCain. Before the debate, those same undecided voters were leaning 56 percent to 44 percent for McCain. The day after the debate, the numbers tilted 52 percent to 48 percent for Illinois Sen. Barack Obama.

"It's suggesting an overall tendency of undecideds toward Obama, so it is significant," said Clifford Young, a senior vice president at Ipsos Public Affairs. "We're catching an underlying trend that's going on."
