Nice sound bite, but she's creaming him on actual substance so far.

Biden thinks we should adjust the principle of a loan? Um... How's that going to work? Lol...

She may be creaming him in specific topics, but Biden is actually moving on. Palin is beating the hell out of one topic for well beyond the allotted time, and then asking if she can go back to the point to beat it down even FURTHER.

ETA: Dammit, MDenham beat me to it.

Dude... just shut up, mkay? Palin is hammering, like MDenham said, the same points over and over. That's all she really knows. Biden is going to ***** her over on everything else.

She used the $42,000 lie that's been called out by fact checkers, and there was another outright lie also, can't remember what it was. Biden didn't call them out, however.

Just a point of observation. Notice how she didn't say "Joe's position on gay marriage is absolutely right". Dunno. Just thought I'd toss that out there... ;)

/shrug

She let the whole "McCain voted against alternative energy 20 times" bit slide as well. Short time frames tends to make it harder to counter every statement.

Yeah, it was called "I'm going to try and save as much face as I can, by dancing around the actual words, so that I can waste time and look good for not agreeing with my opponent."

'Cause heaven forbid both parties be anything but polar opposites of one another.

Trying to sit on the fence. You cannot possibly tell me with a straight face that Palin is ahead, has been ahead, or ever will be ahead in this debate.

Uh-oh, Gbaji, she just agreed with Biden on how they both love Israel. What now?

....

This is a thread about the Vice Presidential Debate. I should hope we're discussing politics in here.
#18gbaji, Posted: Oct 02 2008 at 6:05 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) It's the semantics. I was just referring to an earlier post. Note that she said she agrees with his position, not with him. Subtle difference, but it's something I thought Obama did wrong in the presidential debate. He kept saying "John McCain is correct".

Minor point, but it's one of those little things you do in a debate. She's doing it right. Acknowledge the positions that you agree with, but don't ever actually say that your opponent is right.

I'll also point out how she very cleverly respected his "acknowledgement" of agreement with McCain on an issue. Very very good use of language since he can't really counter it without looking bad.

Okay... keep telling yourself that, dude. Maybe it makes someone look weak, in your opinion, but agreeing on a point that you both agree upon seems to be common sense to me.

Sigh. Yes. You agree to the point. You don't say "My opponent is absolutely correct". It's a minor point. I was just talking about style and technique in a debate. Palin's doing quite well so far.

So let's call it even.

And she just said "Well whatdya know Joe" in her best Frances McDermond voice, that was funny. It's a minor point.

About 15 minutes in we broke out the popcorn.

Smiley: popcorn

She's been studying her note cards when it's Biden's turn. And she has a tendency to ignore the question the moderator asked, and blaze on with whatever talking point she's been permitted to discuss.

Also: "Her" cabinet?
