I just heard from my buddy who is nnow over there and he tells me there are 4 jobs left from the original 20 and I am on the short list competing against a bunch of South Afrikaaners. He said I should be a shoo-in considering the strength of my resume, but heretofore between the loss of my application twice and the proximity of these dirty Boers to the job site I'm not as certaain as he seems to be.

He went surfing there a couple of days ago and said the water is clean and refreshing. A couple of guys were kite surfing. It just is a bit of a walk from the compound itself. he's thinking of getting a hold of a scooter to go to and fro. Fro, heheh, Africa, get it?

Anyway, he says the atmosphere around there is very conivial and the food is OK, but the flying is relaxed, and most importantly, during daylight hours. The gym is terrific, but internet access is very limited, thus allowing people only 15 minutes a day to email, send pictures, etc.

I might go into withdrawl from that aspect alone. He hopes that the plans for better 'net access hurry along. I guess information is stilled shared in that part of the world via kettle drum and English explorers wearing pith helmets.

So I continue to wait. And wait. And wait.

Nice. The limited internet access would be a killer.

I've been dealing with travel arrangements to send someone from my company to all the non-fun areas such as Somalia, the Congo, etc. Due to the dangers of what he has to do, his compensation is whatever the heck he is asking and then some.

Hope you get it and get that killer pay!

Good luck Totem, I have my fingers crossed for you!

Of course, my luck is complete ****, so I don't know if I'm the best one to have rooting for you.
